SSML-121, 14 September 2000

Hi all,

Recently some unreleased Bananarama tracks surfaced (not Siobhan-era sadly), and with the wonders of modern technology, Sarah Mager is able to provide fans with CD copies. What a shame such a thing wasn't feasible when the unreleased Siobhan tracks surfaced a few years ago! At the time though, we had hoped an official release would one day eventuate. Perhaps this is still within the realms of possibility......

If you haven't done so already, check out Dean's amazing SS website:

http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Event/3756

Dean, how would you like to host a tonne of screen grabs from SS videos?

 mike.

Subject: [siobhan] Unreleased Bananarama Tracks

Hi Guys,

As you may already been aware, some mp3's of 7 unreleased Bananarama
songs produced by S/A/W have been whirling around Napster and on the
internet. Well, first up, don't bother downloading them, as I made the
MP3's from a tape I was sweetly gifted from siobhan@manutd.com (who
you may recall is selling the bulk of her collection) and the mp3's
have quite a bit of compression noise and an overzealous amount of
bass (which, I might add was purposeful).

Anyway, in conjunction with my source, we have decided to put these
tracks onto a CD for general distribution. The full track listing has
yet to be confirmed, but will include:

1. Nothing Lasts Forever
2. Love Generation
3. I Don't Care (Version 1)
4. Heartless (Original Version, differs from Pop Life)
5. Love Me
6. Don't Throw It All Away
7. One In A Million (originally intended as a single in early 1990)
8. I Don't Care (Version 2)

(plus other rare tracks as yet to be announced).

I am also willing to distribute a CD of the Live At Wembley (31 May
1989) recording that was also provided to me. This contains the
following tracks:

1. Nathan Jones
2. I Heard A Rumour
3. I Can't Help It
4. Love Truth And Honesty
5. Once In A Lifetime
6. Shy Boy - Robert de Niro's Waiting - Really Saying Something Medley
7. Cruel Summer
8. Love In The First Degree
9. Venus
10. I Want You Back
11. You Give Love A Bad Name

Running time 46 minutes. The quality of this recording is excellent.

At present, I am asking for expressions of interest in these CDs. I
am intending on providing these at cost of US$7 (for one CD) or if you
wish to get both CDs US$10. This price covers the cost of buying the
blank CDs, printing the covers, buying the CD boxes to post them in,
and postage cost worldwide. If you wish to "preorder" a copy, then:

YES I WANT A COPY! TELL ME WHAT TO DO:
1. Email Jaffa at bananarama_emporium@yahoo.co.nz
2. Provide an email address that will be active for at least 2 months
3. Clearly state your name and postal address
4. State whether you want the "1989 CD" fondly entitled "Nothing Lasts
Forever", or the "Live At Wembley CD" or both.

We'll confirm your email, and let you know when the CD collections
will be complete, and how to make payment (international funds of AU$,
NZ$, US$ and UK£ will probably be acceptable).

To see full details, you can refer to
http://www.geocities.com/bananarama_emporium/Cd.html

Cheers,

Subject: [siobhan] Web-site updates

Hi all,

Just to let you know I've updated my web-site with a new article.
It's from a 1990 issue of Melody Maker.

I'm currenly working with Bananastein on a new world-wide Shakespears
Sister discography which should be available within the next couple
of weeks. I'll let you all know when it's ready.

I would very much like to create a 'fan zone/forum' section ie: with
fan profiles/pix/favourite songs/album/why I like SS/monthly polls
etc etc. If any one has any ideas, possible contributions or
suggestions please let me know. I can only do this section with the
co-operation of other fans... so any help would be appreciated

I've also added a message board and a guestbook and there should be
some new 1992 pix on the site very soon.

Thanks for all your positive comments re the site. Don't forget any
ideas or suggestions are most appreciated.

Cheers,
Dean.

Subject: [siobhan] Made In London

hi all;
Has anyone heard of this band? They have a song called Dirty Water which is
so startlingly like SS, I've added it to the soundalikes page on my site
(also got around to rearranging it so the new entries are at the top :)
Thanks go to Warren for turning me on to it. They are a new, teenybopper
band in the UK I think, they have two other songs called Wish and Pull up to
the Bumper.
love yall;
Melanie

[Funnily enough, a friend and I were wondering why we liked this song so much, Dirty Water by Made In London, and eventually we realised it was because it was a sort of Shakespears Sister meets All Saints track, with a somewhat deep female voice blending in with 2 other female voices. Sadly, the group's 2nd single has flopped in the UK, and it looks like they're to be dropped. Oh well, back to the drawing board! Mike.]

Hey everyone,

You might remember a few weeks ago I posted where people could download some Bananarama and Shakespear's Sister mixes. I had so many problems with people being unable to download things, that I put things on hold until I found a service that would allow everyone to download things. I have tried out a few services, but I thought I'd give this one a go. I am hoping it will work and everyone will be able to download the songs as I put them up.
At this point I only have I Found Love - Bananarama, which most of you have. If this site works for everyone and there are no problems I will start to upload my Bananarama and Shakespear's Sister Collection and let you all know as it happens.

Whilst I don't want to reignight the 'Winter's Tale' war once again,
for those of you who didn't get to see it first time around,
Marcella/Lance have reposted it on their web-site. However, this

grateful if any other fans have similar stories that they would like
to contribute - please do so. This area can only work with the
contribution of fans.

Subject: [siobhan] shakespears sister washington dc live video

hello all,
just a note to say hello and to offer something. i have a copy of the
shakespears sister live in washington dc bootleg video that is in
ntsc format. the sound and picture quality are amazing! it appears to have
been shot with a digital camera (i don't know this but a friend who
works in a film studio suggested this). anyway most of the shots are
close ups of siobhan and marcella and includes emotional thing, hot
love, heaven is in your arms, red rocket, stay, i don't care, goodbye
cruel world, black sky, you're history, heroine, dirty mind, hello,
are we in love yet, catwoman..... whew i think i covered them all! i
also have a copy of pinned (the irish indie film featuring siobhan as
a recovering heroin addict) which has been transferred from pal
format (thanks to the lovely soracha) which is very good quality and i have
a canadian interview at muchmusic from 1992 (where i met siobhan!)
which is excellent quality and is dead good. i also have siobhan's "star
test interview" which is good + quality i also have the very hard to
find bootleg of a shakespears sister concert from germany titled
"dirty mind" as well as "back in your own world".

i was just thinking that all shakespears sister/siobhan fans should
be able to see and hear all of this and maybe we can work something out...

i am hunting for the top of the pops issue with the, almost full page
pic of siobhan in a red sweater picture promoting "i can drive". i am
also looking for a shakespears sister tour t-shirt (or any for that
matter), and any promo pics from the "i can drive" and third album
era. also the passion magazine first cd with siobhan reading a poem
(were there any pics of her in that issue?)
or if you have any unique siobhan things (pics, tv stuff..)from
bananarama days right up until now let me know.
hope we can work something out.

21 Aug '00: Annie and Dave have been keeping away from the limelight
recently, but a small news item on the web reveals that they are out and
about as they have been spotted celebrating U2's producer Flood recently

that Dave's ex wife Siobhan Fahey (formerly of Shakespear's Sister) was also
attending. Apparently the divorce might not be too unamicable.
