From what I remember the video for perfect world was like a home video and
was a lot of fun. I think I recall Marcy being pushed around in a shop
trolley and a man with a propellor on his head !!

I do like the remix version of perfect world but am still surprised she did
not release 'Outta my mind' as a single.

Hi everyone,

Yep, I've got another 1996 interview.. this ones not as long but, as
there were few 96 interviews, it's interesting. Its from The
Telegraph newspaper. I've also added a picture from 1998 with
Bananarama that featured in another newspaper.

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you all...

Cheers,

Dean

P.S: I've had a nice letter from Marcy - it seems the new album is
going really well and she's polishing off some of the songs ready for
its release.

Subject: SS INFO

There's seems to be some confusion over the 3rd Shakespears Sister
album so I hope the following clarifies it:

1. The album was and is to be called 'Shakespears Sister' - though
this was not what Siobhan wanted to call it.

2. The "original" track listed (recorded 95/96) was as follows:
        1. Go
        2. I Can Drive
        3. Do I Scare You
        4. Can U Wait?
        5. Oh Dear
        6. What's It Like To Be So Wonderful
        7. Opportunity Knockers
        8. I Don't Envy You
        9. I'll Take Anything
       10. Come & Get Me
       11. I Never Could Sing Anyway
       12. Excuse Me John

However, Pete Tong did not see the album as being marketable and so
Siobhan re-recorded some of the songs and recorded new ones: "Dial F
For Freedom" and "Singles Party". "Can U Wait" was re-recorded, as
well as "Do I Scare You" which was totally remixed with backing vocals
from Billy Macenzie - probably his last vocal contribution (he
committed suicide in Jan 97).

3. It is these tracks and some from the original track listing that
have escaped into the fan circuit - these are not the difinitive
"album". However, it is probably this track listing that will be
officially released.

4. Upon their original application, Kiss The Icon Records were refused
license to release the album. I presume this has now changed and that
through some arrangement the album will be released.

Hope this helps,

Dean.

Subject: [siobhan] An new Siobhan pic - sort of

Hi guys, I was looking through the Issue 2 of the
Passion magazine, and I was shocked to see Siobhan in
another pic and we missed it. Its page 87, The Launch
(party to release to mag) and Siobhan is on the left
of Zandra Rhodes and co.
It almost doesn't look like her, but it is. Look at
the cheek bones, the pouty lips and God, the silkcuts.
So obviously circa 1998 she had heavy gold blonde
streaks.

(well spotted Grant! It really does look like Siobhan. What does everyone else think? I've temporarily put it here:

If enough of you agree it's Siobhan, I'll put in on my SS pics page! Mike)

Subject: [marcella] new tunes

A couple of days ago, I received a CD from Lance with Marcy's holiday songs on it, and a second CD with four other songs. I was wondering if anyone else had a chance to give them a listen and had any feedback to share. I wasn't given the titles either which is driving me nuts and makes it more difficult to talk about them. I finally received a CD version of Dancing Madly Sideways which I loved from the demo tape of a couple of summers ago. It seems Marcy tweaked the lyrics a bit. I think it is far more clever and catchy now. To me, it's a great social commentary about modern life about how we're bombarded by information and busy doing all kinds of inconsequential things that really get us no where. I also received a song that I really love that I think is called I'd Rather Be Happy. It's another well-crafted song about looking on the positive side, and is a pretty rocking, upbeat tune. The first song on the CD is demo-quality. I can't make out the lyrics much, so if anyone knows what it is or what it's about, I'd love to hear from you. I'd hate to give my two cents right now because I might end up making a fool of myself. The music is good though. The fourth song is a love song, which I think might be called "Show Me." It will take me a few more listens to make any judgment on this one. It didn't leave an immediate impression on me like Dancing Madly Sideways or I'd Rather Be Happy, but is a very good song nonetheless.

I hope the holidays went well for everyone, and that everything is still on track for Marcy. We would be getting a real release in 2001.

I have lost count of the number of negative comments I have had said
about me over the last few months. ALL of which are untrue. It is
upsetting and I am therefore thinking about closing my website for
ever.

With reference to this comment: If I was so anti-Marcy I would not
have:
- MARCELLA DISCOGRAPHY
- PAGES ON ALL MARCY SONGS
- ALBUM PAGES OF JEWEL & FEELER

Yes, I made an error and would have appreciated you wrote to me
personally instead of attempting to black-list my name via the
internet.

Subject: [siobhan] negative mutterings about dean and his site

okay, i have to say something.
lay off, dean is doing something for all of us so stop bitching! his
site is fantastic and very informative, with regular updates and
loads of pics. and to those of you who are shooting your mouth off with
complaints about a little mistake here or there i ask you, where is
your site for shakespears sister? so the guy made a mistake, big
deal! his site kicks ass.
he even buys mags off ebay and then posts the articles and pics on
his site, i mean seriously he really goes out of his way.

and to address the issue of someone posing as dean putting up really
negative postings on the message board: that just doesn't make sense.
the fake "dean" called siobhan an "ugly tw@t" and constantly posts
negative messages and claims some really ridiculous things. why would
he work so hard and then slag siobhan?
and then you say dean does this so people will look up his site,
well i can't even comment on how silly that is. these "postings" are
removed as quickly as they pop up by shakespear's brother.

i for one would be really sad to see you close down your site dean,
all because of some mouthy bitter person (who might even have a
connection to the fake "dean" on the message board). i think the
message board should be shut down (sorry shakespear's brother) but
there really isn't anything positive there anymore, and there always
seems to be something really nasty posted there all the time.

and we should all be celebrating that the 3rd album is on it's way
with new tracks possibly, not to mention her work with claire & gully
and the psychonauts.

i for one think that we should all let dean know what a great site it
is and maybe if we can, help out in any way.

so down with the negativity and on with the good.

If you don't like what's on a site, you can't do "beep" about it. All you can
do is make your own site with what ever you want to say about SS. You can't
make someone put something on their site they don't want to put on it. That
is their site and their right to it, not anyone else's.

Dear god noooooo....
Please please PLEASE don't shut down your site Dean!!! :-0
Do you know how bored we all were until you came along with all the new
juicy things last year?! This list was down to talking about Dave directing
the Spice Girls in a movie or something.
Everyone, Dean just today was kind enough to send me an incredibly huge file
which I know must have been heck on his computer, out of the goodness of his
heart. Considering how incredibly massive and accurate his site is, who is
anybody to bicker about a few inaccuracies? Is anyone's website a 100
percent accurate all the time? I think not.
Dean, please stick around. Trolls post junk on message boards because they
are by nature short-attentioned. They will get bored soon enough and will
go bother someone else. It would be horrible if they succeeded in silencing
your voice permanently.

Subject: [marcella] new songs

Marcy cleared up the one song I told you about which confused me due to some technical difficulties on the CDR copy. It's called "Making Sense of it All." I really would like to hear from others who might have heard it, because even now I know the lyrics, I'm still not sure I'm "making sense of it all." It's a very metaphorical song. Maybe Marcy had been listening to too much Artificial Joy Club when she wrote it. It's an excellent song, but it requires some contemplation, which ultimately is what I think the song is about. It gives me the impression of someone pondering life's questions and then feeling inadequate or vulnerable when they discover there aren't answers for anything. The chorus goes, "I'm on the sun with no sunglasses, I'm walking through the in door,
backwards; I'm in the dark hanging mirrorballs and I'm trying to make some sense of it all".

The other song which I didn't have much to say about last time, "Show Me" or something like that, has made a greater impression on me now. I wonder if the source of inspiration for this song is the same as the source of inspiration for Flower from Feeler. Whereas in Flower, Marcy is offering words of encouragement to a woman in an emotionally abusive relationship, the woman in Show Me is stronger. It's a song about someone loving unconditionally, but still setting limits so as to not be taken advantage of. The chorus goes something like, "If you want to be in my life, there will always be a place in my life. But if you want to stay in my life, show me, show me you care, show me, show me if you dare."

I'd like to hear from anyone else who has heard these new tunes. What's your opinion about the new material? I think Marcy could potentially have the greatest and most cohesive batch of songs to date if she chooses the one for the final cut carefully.

Finally, does anyone on the fanlist from the UK have anything to say about this band Aurora whom Marcy has written and recorded with. I did an internet search for information on them. It seems they had a couple of singles, but no full-lenth album yet. One of the songs was a cover of Duran Duran's Ordinary World. I find it odd that they'd do yet another cover so soon. However, this new cover song they did with Marcy recently remains a mystery.

Subject: [siobhan] Re: The Third Album?

Hope i am not responding too late, but I think this album is
brilliant.

it kinda goes like this.....about two years ago i met someone
online who listed a 3rd SS album. ofcourse i went for the bait.
apparently this guy was in with the studio where Siobhan
submitted here demo for I can Drive. the studio hated it and only
released those three or four tracks. but the demo has 14 tracks.

stop me if you know this allready......anyways, so i asked him for
a copy, he said he wouldnt charge for it but to keep music
sacred. since this latest news of her new cd coming out, i have
been checking the playlist and the apparent internet only release
of the new album "Shakespears Sister". i compared the tracks to
my demo and all of them are on it, with additions. could it be that
this cd sat on a shelf for three or four years? has it been cleaned
up? do the tracks sound the same / or more enhanced?

anyways i thought the cd was brilliant! raw and totallly SS stuff!

the demo track list goes like this:

1. Go!
2. I Can Drive
3. Singles Party
4. Do I Scare You
5. Can U Waiit
6. Oh Dear
7. Excuse Me John
8. Was It Something I Said
9. Dial "f" for Freedom
10. Opprotunity Knockers
11. I Could Never Sing
12. Waiting
13. Oh no, It's Michael
14. Suddenly

Also came with some smashing shots of the young lass! oh
yeah and the title was "The Missing Masters"

Did you already know of this release? Kinda weird I thought....

talk to ya soon!
Scot

[The guy's story doesn't seem to quite match the actual sequence of events, as Dean points out below. For example, "Was It Something That I Said" was recorded several years later, etc. See Dean's letter below for more details. But I'm glad the guy didn't rip you off for a copy Scot! Mike.]
