Subject: Re: [siobhan] negative mutterings about dean and his site
I don't want to seem insensitive, but the person who posted the negative
message towards Dean calls herself "Jane," and left her e-mail address.
Although she's criticized Dean for making a mistake, I think her general
sentiment is that he doesn't give Marcy enough credit. Founded or not, it's
her opinion and many feel Marcy is not given her due (I'm one of them),
while others only Siobhan is integral to SS.
Truly, I set up the message board so that fellow Bangles fans at the Return
Post EZboard could check it out and give SS a chance. I have said all along
that I never meant to "steal" people away from the list.
I respect your right to think it should be shut down, but as long as I check
it daily and remove harmful messages, I think it can serve its purpose.
P.S. If you're talking about negative messages and you receive the list in
digest mode, check out the message before mine, left by "XXredwater." I have
half a mind to believe that anyone THAT intolerant could easily be causing
trouble at the message board.

can't even spell for God's sake!! Your site is the most magnificent shrine

I believe that some of the other SHAKESPEARS SISTER websites are biased
against Marcella. I started listening to SS when Your're History came
mainly because of the conbination between MD and SF different voices.
Siobhan did firstly think of starting SS but it would not of evolved into
what we see today without Marcella's massive imput.
Marcy wrote many songs and wrote a lot of SS's music but she is not
appreciated for her full worth. My complaint is that if a website is about
SS then it should be about SS not just Siobhan, Marcy was a major part of
SS. Websites which do not appreciate Marcy are Mel's and Dean's ( sorry but
this is my opinion no offence intended!!). Websites that appreciate both
Siobhan and Marcy equally are Mike's, Neil's and Jon's.
With all the Best wiches to Shuv and Marcy!!

Frankly that was quite uncalled-for...They've got every right to run THEIR sites just as they wish, haven't they ? IMHO both Melanie and Dean's sites are truly awesome so thumbs up to you guys and keep up the good work !

should be equally shared out. No offence is meant towards anybody, it is my

Well perhaps Dean has a little more interest in Siobhan's stuff, and maybe
That reflects on the site. Or maybe he doesn't. But thats Dean's right isnt
It? You cant give him slack for that?
And Ii dont agree that the site should be equally shared out. If you wanna
Talk more about siobhan than do it or vice versa.

Wow. How ridiculous. People must stop talking about these ladies like they
Are personal freinds or something, and if they are then you can give them
The respect they desreve in person and get on with your lives.
Dean your site is fantastic. Like I said before you should change the
Site's name to "siobhan rules" and then we can really see sparks fly.

None taken, and actually I agree with you -- my site does more often than
not tend to focus on Siobhan. I'm aware of that and it's something I try to
keep an eye on when I can. I think Marcella is incredible -- multi-talent,
guitar, near-opera-level voice, amazing songwriter. But Siobhan was the
original reason I got into Sister in the first place, and she still
fascinates me on so many levels. I wanna be her when I grow up. :) But
point well taken, and I'll try to keep it more evened out in future updates.
Peace, and I mean it;

Dear Friends,
Please stop this petty bickering. It is enough to make a person want to Quit
getting e-mails from the group. Now I think we all have a right to an
opinion but lets please take into consideration that on the recieving end of
you e-mails there are REAL people with their own opionions and biases. We
may need to try to be a bit politically correct, as it were, as not to
offend people.
To diehard Marcy I ask you to please consider that this is the Siobhan list
when posting messages. There is no need for all of this bickering with
regard to a failed partnership that went bust YEARS ago.
Siobhan and Marcy seem to have move on...Can we?

To all concerned,
All this talk about the third album finally being released (fingers
crossed), has gotten me all excited. I remember in initial reviews of
the album, critics were all praising "Dial F For Freedom", "Do I Scare
You", "Opportunity Knockers" and "Whats It Like To Be So Wonderful?". I
got the demo a few years back with all the tracks most people on the
list got, outside of the following tracks: "What's It Like To Be So
Wonderful?", "Come & Get Me", "I Don't Envy You", and "I'll Take
Anything". I am especially interested in "What's It Like To Be So
Wonderful?" as all the critics reviewing the album did like it. Has
anyone heard it? Any samples available? Any info would be greatly
appreciated, and here's hoping that the album does see a release this
year. I can't believe its been that long (4 years!) since the initial
release was slated!!!

Hi guys,
today one friend of mine let me listen to one MP3. It was "Stay Remix" Actually, I was very surprised because I have never heard of this mix before. It is called Stay (AKs egyptian Beat and Moan Mix). Its duration is 6.06 minutes. It is very funny, Shuv is constantly repeating "Give it to me" in her "You'd better hope'n' pray" passage. Do you know anything about this mix??? Where and when was it released, and who is the maker???
Talk to you later,
Andrei.

For what it's worth, I don't think that's Siobhan saying that in the
song....sounds a tiny bit like they looped a porn movie sndtrk. in there....

Subject: [siobhan] Site Updates
Hi Guys,
Considering the great support I recieved from many of you regarding
my website I have decided to continue my pursuit for having a
difintive SS site. Hence there have been some recent updates:
- There are two new interviews from 1996: one is a transcript from an
interview Siobhan did for an Irish programme "2 TV", the other is
from the Independent - very kindly submitted by "Terminalsinner".
- I've revamped and redesigned the Hormonally Yours. If anyone would
like to submit any personal reviews of this album then please send
them in to me (dean@shakespears-sister.com)
- The Site Info page has also been updated.
There will be more stuff added very soon so keep checking back. If
anyone has any suggestions, contributions or criticisms (though
please don't start a public smear campaign) then please let me know.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have
contributed to make the site what it is: especially Mike Devery,
Sarah Mager and Christopher Gietl (terminalsinner).
Cheers,
Dean.

Subject: [marcella] Marcy in SF
Hi guys,
It is Andrei. These last days were the happiest days in my life yeah, I made it!!! I went to San Francisco to see Marcy together with the Barry Goldberg Blues Band.
You know, all that is like magic. When in January I came back to Minnesota from San Francisco, where I celebrated Christmas with my friends, I found out that Marcy was going to perform in San Fran in the end of January. That was ironic. I wrote Marcy an email and asked her about the concert, and it was a dream come true she offered me to be her guest at the show, she gave me complimentary tickets and reserved a table for me and one my friend. All the way from Minneapolis to California, all these days, I could not realize that I was going to see that one who had been bringing so much joy into my life, the musical goddess.
In the night of the 27th, my friend and I were standing next to the Bisquit & Blues Club in San Fran. The sign on the club announced The Barry Goldberg Blues Band and ++. Marcy Levy !!! We came in and told the manager that we were Marcy s guests. The manager showed us to our table, and while taking our seats, I felt someone s look at my back, I turned around and I saw HER, smiling at me. 25 years old, absolutely gorgeous, she looked just like the Marcy from I Hate You Now video . She was dressed in leather pants and forest green cardigan sweater, standing drop dead gorgeous, sipping water from the bottle. This moment I remember for the rest of my life. I approached to her, she asked: You are Andrei? I said: Yes and she gave me a hug. I could have that hug forever!
We chatted for few minutes and I took some pics, and she went to get ready for the show.
The concert was divided into three parts and Marcy appeared onto the stage in the third one. She was introduced as "a young girl who played with Eric Clapton, Elton John, Sting, recorded with all of the following, wrote "Lay Down Sally". The man on the stage said: This girl has more soul than an international shoe company. She'll put the quiver in your liver, make your bladder splatter, and your knees freeze. Let's give a warm San Fran welcome to Marcy Levy. Marcy performed after one fabulous guy from Chicago, so having thanked the audience, she said: "So, we went from Chicago to Detroit in about one minute". She was dressed in a bright red dress and while singing the first song she took off her shoes, performing the rest of the show barefoot.
She sang 5 songs, three of them are Mother Earth , Gotta use my imagination , and You can take my husband (but don t mess with my man) . The house was excited, they enjoyed Marcy performing soooo much!!!
After the show, we went behind the wings to chat and have the posters signed. We spoke about the new album, and the funniest thing is that I named some of my favorite tunes from "Demos" and Marcy told that all those songs I named would be on the album. Also we spoke about Marcy's previous albums, about sad destiny of "Out of my mind" and about some hard to find videos such as "Perfect World". Marcy told that she would ask Lance about that vid, because he directed it and he might know how to get it. I looked at her and thought how it was easy to speak to her, the star, and the universe for me. Marcy said: "I am just a human". But more I live; more I see that she isn't! She is the goddess for me! The second show was about to begin and we should leave. Marcy gave me a hug good bye and walked me to the door, wishing all the best and safe trip back to Minnesota. She did not say good bye, but "Hope to see you soon" and promised to come closer to the North of America.
Well, all I have been dreaming as a child in a far away Russia, came true so many years later. And I thank God for that. I thank God for Marcy!
Talk to you later, Andrei.
