Finally got my "I Can Drive" CD -- ended up having a friend in NYC get it for me at
the Virgin Megastore. It's really strange, but I guess everyone's saying it takes some
getting used to. The artwork/packaging is wonderful though (style over substance?) I
also got my Hormonally Yours video. "Goodbye Cruel World" is the best ... Siobhan
was born to play Norma Desmond! The other videos (I had never seen any of them)
weren't so hot, especially "Hello (Turn Your Radio On)" -- kind of lame. I really got
to know HY before Sacred Heart, but now that I have SH on CD, I can't get over how
much better it is. I hope Siobhan doesn't continue in the Hormonally Yours style --
although the new single doesn't really sound like either. All for now. Kenneth Walsh

P.S. Is it true Bananarama and SS each performed in London recently?

Unfortunately I did not see SS at all. I think the narnas where sandwiched between
JX and Sybil, But I was quite drunk and cannot remember the exact running order as
for the after concert, I was forced to go home otherwise I may have been sick! But
Bananarama were most excellent! Siobhan was recently on TOTP with I can drive
which was a flop here. SS may have been there but I cannot confirm it for you.

Yes SS did perform at the London Gay Pride event!! My friend was on holiday there
and said she sounded terrible!! YIKES!! Well I have the concert CD and it's quite
good I think, although Marcy has stronger vocals. Said to hear both of the girls'
singles aren't doing so well!! And Bananarama were performing at a club with Kylie
and Dannii. They only sang 4 songs (pitiful!) but the crowd went wild. Gay people are
so much fun and have always been loyal to the Nanans!! I wish I were there with
them!!
He even took some pics which I have yet to see!

Here's an anonymous review of the SS single:
Well there's a bit of a disparity among fans on what they think of it actually.
Personally I thought the first time that I heard "I Can Drive" that it was very poor and
not very good at all, but after some diehard playing about 6 or 10 times later I decided
that it was actually very >very good. Lyrically it's quite a spectacle actually. the
starting music >is quite dull very typical early seventies sounding but near the end the
song gets a big breath of life and gets remarkably fabulous. Of >course, its done to
sound like a serious song by serious musicians so is a little predictable. The b-side
"Oh no its michael" sounds very similar to the material dave stewart recorded with
Tom Petty in fact it >sounds very much like a Tom Petty song its got some classic
lyrics in it though...I like it lots but most fans have said unkind things about it... and
the third new song that is on the CDsingle is "Suddenly" which will >be on the new
album. Personally everyone I have spoken to about it thinks that this track is instantly
likeable think of Siobhan trying her hardest to sound like Chryssie Hynde of the
Pretenders with a beat not > all that dissimilar to "Primitive love" with an overdose of
"Hot love" >and T-rex compositions and you've got an idea what Suddenly sounds
like. >Its fabulous but its appeal does wane a little. When I played I Can >Drive to a
friend the first thing she said was ..." I didn't know Phoebe > [..aka "Friends" TV
show and the fabulous "smelly cat" fame!] had >released another song..." sarcastic
cow!

dear omar
thanks so much for your flattering comments...i will take them as they are intended
and bow down to your obvious good taste. the single as far as we know wont be
released in canada yet but hopefully by the time the l.p. comes out we will have
distribution worked out and you'll be able to "pop" down to your local store and take
it home in a yummy goody bag. all details will obviously be posted on the internet as
and when but keep writing and letting us know how you feel about the detroit girl and
her post sister muses. marcy is totally buzzed up and blown away by the responses of
people like yourself and now it's time to spread the word across the globe. keep
watching listening and writing. yes yes yes marcy sees all of her mail and this reply is
direct to you after she read your e-mail....
