Hi everyone,
Not much news I'm afraid. The Shakespears Sister world has gone very quiet...
Marcy's site has been updated with frames and so on. The address is still:
http://www.marcelladetroit.com/
Mike.

Well that was much more interesting thanks to my brilliant questions! Nice
responses, although many of you could get off your asses and respond once in a
while!
Does anyone know the release date of the new SS single "GO!"? Apparently it's
coming out real soon!
97!!!!!!! I can't wait that long! That's bullshit! What is this new music she is
recording? I thought the album was finished?! Maybe she decided it wasn't good
enough and is trying for a stronger appeal after ICD never hit it big...?
Poor Siobhan....no Dave, no Marcy. What will become of this oddity?! I anxiously
await! Denny

Thanks to Sha for another response to the survey:
> a. what other artists do you enjoy besides SS
Tori Amos, Bjork, Kate Bush, Cranberries, Annie Lennox/Eurythmics,
Garbage, Hole, Kylie Minogue, Morrissey, REM, Smashing Pumpkins, couple of
Britpops (Elastica, Blur, Oasis, etc), Suede, Siouxsie Banshee.
> b. what is your opinion of Siobhan's material sans Marcella
Not too bad but not too great either. Their contrasting vocals made them
excitingly haunting.
> c. what are your fave SS remixes; who would you like to see remix a SS
> song--which song?
The Run Silent Revolution Mix, The 1990 Version of Dirty Mind and the E-
Zee Remix of Dirty Mind, and the BTO mix of Goodbye Cruel World. Don't
know much about remixers, sorry!!
> d. what is your favorite lyric from a SS song
"We're all bingo numbers and our names are obsolete" - Hello
> e. what do you think the future of SS will be with Siobhan gone solo
The public will either love her or hate her, and depending on material Siobhan
may go from strength to strength. In other words, she would either make it big again
or become a cult (and possibly a critic) favourite.
> f. what was your favorite Siobhan look in the days of Bananarama;
> post-Bananarama
In the days of Bananarama she looked best during the "Wow!" period.
Post Bananarama she looked quite nice with the Victorian look, all curly hair
and Gothic make-up. I'd say she looked her voluptuous best in the "Stay" video.
> g. have you ever seen SS in concert? If so, describe the experience
Yes. I saw them in the Town and Country Club in London in March 1992 on
their first segment of their three tours of Britain that year. It was magical as it was my
first time attending a concert. The atmosphere was very lively and everyone had a fab
time. There were lots of gays and lesbians (and possibly bisexuals too) there, and the
crowd went wild during Siobhan's growl on "Stay" and they became even more
bonkers with "You're History". A cool male couple (wearing the skimpiest of jean
shorts in the middle of March mind you!! It was freezing out too) were standing close
to me and they were able to sing along to Marcy's parts of "You're History", and at
some points they were even higher than she was!!
The concert was great, the crowd responsive and everyone on the floor were
very warm, friendly and were out there to have a good time. Siobhan and Marcy
played out their sibling rivalry act on stage, and were quite warm towards the
audience, Marcy more so than Siobhan (but that could be Marcy being an American
and Siobhan the reserved English woman she is). Radio One in the UK replayed
this concert a month after the performance, and a disc entitled "Back In Your Own
World" is available as a bootleg. The recording of the concert (with three songs cut
out, sadly. The songs were "Heaven Is In Your Arms", "The Trouble With Andre" and
"Moonchild". Snippets of Siobhan and Marcy talking were cut out too, and it is a
shame that Radio One and the bootleg CD cut out Siobhan talking in a helium voice, a
la Marcy) is very clear. A must for any fan, I say.
> h. movie soundtrack you'd most like to see SS work on I've never seen
"Shopping" or the "Flintstones" so I don't know how they would sound like as
soundtrack music. But having seen "Trainspotting" about a zillion times and loving it
and having the book, I would say "Trainspotting" is the film for Siobhan to work
music to. Or at least a small-ish independent film from Europe would be great for SS
to put music to; big Hollywood films are just not for them. I think small independent
European films are way cooler than those most often than not rubbish Hollywood
films. But that's just my opinion.
Thanks!!
