Subject: Welcome to Shakespears Sister mailing list!

Greetings one and all!

This e-mail is intended to be an introduction to the Shakespears Sister mailing list. For the
moment, the exact format is still undecided, and it will all be manually operated. I have not undertaken
such a venture before, so there are inevitably going to be stuff-ups and delays. Please bear with me! I
welcome any criticisms or suggestions; this is not "my" list... I'm just filling a gap " in the marketplace" so
to speak. After this e-mail, each message forwarded out to everyone will be numbered and dated. This
should allow us to keep track of stray messages.
The main aim is to provide a mechanism to pass on information, as quickly as possible, to those interested.
However, anything that you may wish to discuss or report is welcome. At this stage (March 1996), new
material is anticipated at any stage, but until it actually does surface, we'll just have to reflect on past
glories!
Please send anything of interest to me at: devery@vaxc.cc.monash.edu.au

BUT PLEASE include Shakespears Sister, SS, Shak.Sis. or similar in the subject heading to allow
me to quickly identify the e-mail as relevant.

The following are some excellent Shakespears Sister web sites:

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the first real Shakespear's Sister mailout! First of all, Jennifer reports that Boy George makes
several references to Siobhan in his autobiography "Take It Like A Man":

Date: Fri, 22 Mar 1996 09:29:03 -0500 (EST)
From: jennifer christine galey

i'm just full of useless information. i'd love to tell more about boy george--i remember several
bananarama references. i'll look through it again. in one part he is on a plane with dave stewart (siobhan's
husband) and they are discussing mushrooms and acid trips.
who has heard marcella's album, jewel? i was more than a little disappointed. it's as if she
suddenly turned boring and is aiming for an older audience or something... but i do like a few songs--i'm
no angel, cool people, etc. and she has such a lovely voice on prima donna--but did anyone think maybe
this song was in reference to siobhan?

my sister and i dressed up as shakespear's sister for a halloween party. i made her be marcy
because she's taller and i wanted to wear a garland crown. that white make-up is really difficult to wear.
and i lost my crown somewhere that night...

The following information came from an Australian interview of Pete Tong (UK BBC-radio dance
DJ), during his DJ tour in January 1996. It was published in "Beat" magazine.

"Interviewer (Andrew Mast): ...You also do A&R work.
Pete Tong: That's my proper job.
AM: What artists have been most successful for you, and are there any that you have overlooked when
looking for new talent?
PT: Goldie was my big success story for last year. I also look after Shakespear's Sister and Orbital
-who are 2/3 of the way to completing their next album. I don't look after that many acts anymore,
purposefully so; a real artist should take up a lot of time."

Later in the article, mention is made of Paul Oakenfold (DJ, remixer of U2 etc etc; head of
Perfecto Records): "...he has cut down his remixing schedule though, remixing only once a month and only
for his own roster of artists (though he has just done mate Pete Tong a favour by remixing Shakespear's
Sister new single)."
**********************

Finally for now, the following is an extract from an extensive, and very interesting, Siobhan interview
published in a book of interviews of female rock musicians in 1994. You may find this in your local
academic library.

Women, Sex and Rock'n'Roll: In Their Own Words
Interviews conducted by Liz Evans, June 1993-March 1994.
Published 1994, by Pandora, London.

Siobhan Fahey: "They don't expect boys to pretend to be nice, but they do with girls, and I'm not a
nice person!"

Introduction (by Liz Evans): Having trashed the grinning blonde of Bananarama dance routines
and synchronised singing several years ago, SF has re-emerged as a witty, subversive pop star with her own
project, SS. With dramatic effect she questions the role of traditional beauty. Twisting the trappings of
glamour into something dangerous, she mocks the perfection for cosmetic masks by smearing black eyes
onto a faultless foundation, drawing scarlet dots on her cheeks and wearing deathly pale or deeply dark lips.
Her carefully-
crafted songs contain tales of badness, shattering the innocence and false nicety of the female pop persona,
and her performances are deranged and out of control......
By inscribing her negative feelings into the current pop charts, Fahey is confronting her pain,
while opening up a Pandora's Box of suppressed female emotion for all the world to see. Glamour is often
disturbed and Fahey is not only acknowledging that, she is celebrating it.

	Siobhan Fahey: "I don't have a hometown, I don't come from anywhere, I don't belong anywhere
and that's always really freaked me out, to the point where my husband Dave's going, 'Why the fuck are we
living in London?' and I just go, 'It's my home, I don't like it here but I live here!' I've been on this sort of
neurotic search for a community to belong to for some time now. It's horrible, and it's probably the root
cause of my alienation. I do feel very alienated from the rest of society and I have done forever really, so I
don't know what I would have done if I hadn't become a pop star really. It's the perfect job for people who
don't fit anywhere else.
When I was a child, my home life was pretty unstable. My dad just went where the work was
basically. He was in the army for the first nine years of my life so I spent five years in Germany and then
he was a contracting engineer so he'd just go wherever the money was. We lived all over Britain, in
Scotland and all over England. It was horrible because I went to eight different schools, and you know what
a nightmare it is starting a school. So by the time I went to my eighth one I was 14 and it was so traumatic I
never really got over it. And I became completely -you know the girl in the class that everyone laughs at
and no one sits next to? That was me. And I had to cope with that from 14 I used to find solace in
food during my adolescence as well, so my weight shot up. I was heavier at the age of 12 and 13 than I'd
ever been. I hated it so I started starving myself. I did it for a year and it was annoying because I didn't
really get very thin. I only lost half a stone, and because I was so depressed as well, my system ground to a
halt. When I moved to London it was fantastic. I was out every night all night and I lived off beer and
coffee and cigarettes because I couldn't afford to eat, and that sorted my body shape out immediately."

Hi everyone,

We're up to 10 people now, if I include myself, with a few more potentials in soon hopefully! I am
currently sending out the e-mails in 2 batches (my distribution list thing isn't working properly); hence
you'll only see half the list of names in the "to.." section.
To get some e-mail action going, how would you like to describe your first experience with
Shakespear's Sister? (And for that matter, do you prefer SS with or without the apostrophe?! I prefer the
apostrophe version, since that was the original spelling, and there's a comment in a SS article somewhere
saying it wasn't intentionally lost for the 2nd album, it just disappeared out of apathy, and may re-appear in
the future; BUT, you could argue just as well that Shakespears is the _current_ spelling).
My first experience was seeing the Break My Heart video. This was played sometime in late 1988
on the overnight video clip program "Rage", when the single was released in Australia. And it was such a
SHOCK! Siobhan had always been my favourite 'Nana, but I had never realised that she had a deeper voice
(I hadn't heard her solo vocal at the start of "Do Not Disturb" at the time). And the black hair! She looked
fabulous though, and I thought it was a great song. It really jumped out among all the others clips being
played that night. So I went and bought the 12" single the next week, and discovered the brilliant, but quite
different to BMH, Heroine.

i like the apostrophe...

i heard marcella's "i believe" at the beginning of "melrose place" last year (and not once on the
radio). did she make any videos other that "i'm no angel"? she just seems to have faded away...

--jennifer

>From Mike:

Does anyone know what Marcella singles were released in the US? I had the impression that "I
Believe" was a minor hit there. It was a reasonable hit in the UK and Australia, staying in the Top 40 in
Aust. for several months, though never peaking very high (about #20). There was a nice video clip for it:
filmed in B&W, outdoors on some grassy fields. "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing" (the duet with Elton
John) was the next single in the UK, and I think there was a video for that as well. It scraped into the top
20 in the UK; only a minor hit.
"I'm No Angel" was the 3rd and last UK single I think, and the 2nd and last single in Australia. It
had a video as well, as you've mentioned. It bombed in both places, despite a promotional tour by Marcella
at the time of its release. Incidentally, during this tour, she performed a solo acoustic version of "Stay" for
a radio chart show.

I suspect Marcella will bounce back with another album eventually. She's been in the business
_quite_ a while now. Remember she co-wrote "Lay Down Sally" with Eric Clapton in the 1970s, and had a
solo album in about 1982.

I was in Europe for the summer of 1992 and they played an SS block. The videos were "You're
History" "Stay" and one other that I don't remember. It may have been "Goodbye..." or something.
Anyway, I was impressed with their videos. Especially the one where they have this Hollywood setting
and the two are just talking in B&W. Does anyone remember this?

Well, when I returned home from Europe (I live in the US) I found that "Stay" was in the Top 5 so
I heard it often. I loved the song and got the CD that Christmas. The rest is history (pardon the cliche').

First SS experience:

Hmmn after being a die-hard Siobhan freak in 1987/8 and the horror when she left the "rams" I
read a review for Sacred Heart on a teletext page -> I couldn't believe that she had released something so
early after leaving bananarama but was overjoyed. Promptly a local TV station picked up the video and
gave it some airtime -> the first single released in NZ was You're History I couldn't believe that her voice
was so deep -> having been my favourite narna for so long I thought she had the "pretty " voice and not this
strong femme fatale depth - and the black hair (OK I'm an almost blonde and liked the pseudo blonde
image) any rate I loved the harmonies in You're history and those characteristic na na nah nahs and I loved
the clever lyrics and hated marcy's voice though the shock treatment worked cleverly! So as a diehard fan i
raced to the shops and bought SH immediately on tape (in the days before my wondrous CD player) and
thrashed the tape to death. it is still my favourite SS album! ESP Dirty Mind.

The first time I heard of SS was when I was living in Paris. At the time, the first album made their debut.
I loved the album and still listen to it. I guess my favorite tracks are "Dirty Mind" (which I own the 12"
single) and "Sacred Heart" and "You're History". Perhaps the most sentimental favorite is "Sacred Heart".
I feel that this is the best representational of SS and Siobhan. She said all the things I wanted to say. That
song touches the most inner part of my soul. I have always like Siobhan from the Bananarama days to the
present. Perhaps, I recognize the rebel and darkness in my character. That's why I like SS. Not to slight,
the Bananarama group. I love them too. They are like my fun side and while SS, taps into my dark side.
Siobhan does have fine set of pipes and deep which apparently wasn't noticeable in Bananarama. That is
the exception of "Ghost" (my favorite from the ladies), and "Some Girls". I love the direction she has
taken in the past years. Especially with the "Prehistoric Daze" from "Flintstones". A bit of rap, a bit of
rock, a bit of dance and whole a lot more. Has anyone notice what a great image stylist she is?! From
youthful days with Bananas to SS. She is always shown with a flare for fashion and imagery. (That's a
different story for a different time).

Actually, she was sewn into it.

And there was a 4th Marcella Detroit single that came out after a really long gap. It was a 2 part
single for Perfect World with The '95 Radio Mix, Album version, Youth's Vocal Session, and Youth's Dub
Session on the first part and acoustic versions of Perfect World, I Believe, I'm No Angel, and You Don't
Tell Me Everything on the second. As far as I know "Jewel" didn't do very well here in the US. None of the
singles were released here commercially. I don't think her older album did well either but she is still sought
after as a back up singer and song writer. Perhaps she is just destined to be stuck behind that guitar!

case you missed it.....:

From: Janine E. Harris

Subject: Meeting Siobhan

O.K, so here's the story... I had already met all of Bananarama twice at autograph signings for the
"Bananarama" and "True Confessions" albums, but this was something else...
I was working at Music Plus, a record store here in LA, it was 1989 and Eurythmics (another one
of my all time favorites) were about to release the "We Two are One" album. My friend, Geri, had received
word from some of her friends who worked at the main office of Music Plus, that there was going to be a
record release party for Eurythmics at Dave and Siobhan's house! Now, I suppose only the head honchos of
the company were supposed to know about this party, but we found out, and couldn't pass up trying to get
in. It was easier than we thought. I already had a good idea of where the house was (my friends father is in
real estate and had something to do with the sale of the house). so away we went. we got dressed a little
nicer than usual-we didn't want to look out of place with all the record industry people. We pulled up to the
house and realized that the door was wide open-no guest list, no invitations-we just walked right in.
We were plenty nervous as we walked through the main hallway. There were video monitors showing the
videos from the new album (none of which we had seen yet) and the album was playing throughout the
house. We found one of Geri's friends and she told us that we had just missed an acoustic performance by
Dave and Annie (in the living room!) and that Annie had just left. I was so upset. If we had only been there
a few minutes earlier...
We continued on with our tour of the house, saw the studio in the back yard, The Chapel, where tons of
bands have recorded. We even made sure to use the bathroom! during all this, we saw dave and Siobhan
walking around, but were too shy to say anything. We just wanted to blend in, we were so afraid of
someone asking who we were or what we were doing there! The only other "stars" we saw were Expose.
I'm sure Arista records president Clive Davis was there as well, but I wouldn't recognize him if I saw him.
People were starting to leave, so we figured we'd better go too. We we're outside the front door and
Siobhan was there talking to a friend. I decided that this was the time to talk to her. I asked her about the
Shakespears Sister album, it had just come out in England and she was anxious to hear where it would
debut in the charts. She seemed really excited that I was interested in her music. In fact, she invited Geri
and I BACK into the house to see some video of S.S. live in Russia. She led us to the door of Dave's office,
but it was closed. She explained that Dave was playing bits of his solo album for a friend. Of course that
record didn't come out for quite a while, so we got another musical preview! When Dave was finished, we
all piled into the tiny office and Siobhan popped the tape in the VCR. It was just Dave and his friend,
Siobhan, Geri, and myself! Very Cool! Dave had the artwork for some of the bands on his label scattered
around the office and lots of other memorabilia. When it was over we thanked the both of them for the
great time and left the house with huge smiles on our faces.
That isn't quite the end, though. The next day My friend Gary and I we're going to see Eurythmics in a
special fan-club-only concert at the Pantages theatre in Hollywood. We met up with Siobhan again at the
show. She was hanging out with actor Harry Dean Stanton and we got some pictures taken with both of
them. Siobhan had just finished shooting the video for Run Silent (I think) and was exhausted from the
days work.
after the show, we met Dave again and the rest of the band and got lots of autographs. Oh, yeah, I forgot to
tell you that I did get to meet Annie as well. We we're really early for the show, hanging out in front of the
theatre when 2 limos pull up with Dave and Annie and we we're able to get pictures and autographs with
both of them. To top it all off, everyone got a cd of "We Two Are One" on the way out. And it wasn't
coming out for another month. What an incredible 2 days!
I met Siobhan again a few years later, but that's another story...Talk to you soon. Feel free to share this
story with everyone ...

[jennifer: i heard somewhere that the man in question is keren woodward's ex-boyfriend and father of

Yes I can confirm that the bloke on the table in the Stay video is David Scott Evans - keren's ex-
beau and father of Thomas. Mind you I can barely recognise him from the More Than Physical video but
the similarity is there.

As for the stay interpretation: I prefer the Siobhan is the femme devil who is completely drunk
scenario and I think in the end Siobhan will get
him - she's just biding her time until he does die!

Yes, in Stay Siobhan seems to give up on getting the man, but you sense she's thinking "oh well, have him
for now. I can come back and get him anytime I want!"

remix work he did on the new SS single: title; is it just Siobhan on vocals etc. etc. If I get a reply I'll
forward it on straight away.

We're up to 13 subscribers now! Early next week I'll forward on a "complete" discography (special thanks

Interesting to read this. I have always found it appropriate to compare Siobhan with the recently
reinvented Boy George. They are true examples of "Glam Rock" at its best. She is the epitomy of
everything Bananarama is not--raw, fucked, and fabulous! I love the way she is able to maintain as
successful career while looking absolutely drab in interviews and absolutely fucked on heroin on stage. She
is fab!

And yes, although Marcella's album was dry in comparison to her work with SS, it was a beautiful
piece of work. Definitely aimed at a different audience which is probably why it failed as it did.

Well, ya know I have always thought of SS as a joint project--and it worked really well. Too well
in fact. I hope Siobhan's solo effort can make justice to the previous efforts. Marcella was integral to SS,
and her voice helped define who they were. If not for her, Stay would not have been such a smash for the
group. I wish they would collaborate again, although Marcella said they were like a bad marriage (in fact it
was a pre-
arranged marriage!) that could not survive. So sad really, I think I'm going to cry....

The Marcella info forgets to mention "Perfect World" which was remixed for release in the UK. It,
along with Nothing But The Real Thing (with Elton John), were both sold as 2-set cd packs. I have all of
them as well as the SS. And I prefer the spelling without the (') as Siobhan said once in an interview: her
friend had misspelled Shakespear initially when creating the cutout artwork featured on the first single and
that she intended to keep it that way because it was more original. Then when the apostrophe disappeared
she said it made the name even more original!

That's my 10 cents in.

The "Stay" video was not based on "Catwomen From the Moon"--only inspired in part by it. The
girls had decided that rather than do a second album they would release a video/movie featuring
"Catwoman", "Moonchild", "Stay", and one other (I forget!). It was supposed to be in 3D and the women
got the idea after Dave Stewart introduced the two to the film. The record company did nix the idea, saying
it was too expensive a risk. Too bad.

My interpretation of Stay is that yes indeed, Siobhan seems to say "Shit, have 'im if ya want. But
he's mine later!" So in effect, she really does win, as the guy has to die sometime!

Siobhan looks fabulous no matter how you look at her. Of course the early Bananarama vids leave
something to be desired, but hell when you're first starting out and have little cash flow, you bleach your
hair yourself! Yes, it was a disaster in Really Saying Something, and Shy Boy, etc. but look at Sarah's hair-
-it is fried city!

At any rate, I was aware Siobhan was working on SS after leaving Bananarama and saw some new
promo pics of her in the UK Smash Hits magazine. The new look was a shock! I didn't know what to make
of it. She mentioned the first thing she did after leaving the group was to dye her hair black to rid herself of
her bubblegum image. Interesting nonetheless. I love it nowadays.

The long-awaited single "Break My Heart" was a confusing first listen. My brother thought it was
Grace Jones singing with Siobhan doing the chorus! Of course we soon learned it was Marcella doing the
high-
pitched squeals and Siobhan will the low growl. The song grew on me and became an instant hit in the
alternative clubs along with Heroine. I soon picked up the double lp of "Your History" and "Heroine", and
later the Canadian release of "Break My Heart" containing the Shep Pettibone house mixes which were
well received in the gay discos in Vancouver. It also contains one of my favorite SS songs "You Made Me
Come to This"--which inevitably would have been a smash hit had it been released.
	Cheers!

Also, some nagging questions have come up while I've been compiling the discography. It seems the US
catalog number for the Sacred Heart album was 422-828168-1/2/4 (compared to the UK/AA 828131-
1/2/4). Can anyone confirm this? And were there any differences between the UK and US pressings?

The US pressing of the Hormonally Yours album seems to have some different mixes as well. "Let Me
Entertain You" is longer and quite different to the UK version (5.13 versus 4.43). Also, Voyager's SS
website lists track times for all the HY tracks, and there seems to be differences in "Black Sky" and "The
Trouble With Andre".

 UK BS: 4.03 ; Andre 4.42
 US BS: 4.18 ; Andre 4.03

Some difference could arise from a different cutoff point between each track (i.e. going from track 7 to
track 8); but Andre does seem a lot shorter on the US pressing. Can anyone confirm these US times, and
point out any other differences?

I am also curious about the original single release of "Goodbye Cruel World". The original album version
runs for about 4.06 ; whereas most versions on the 1991 release of the singles seem to run for 3.56. (This is
of course, all completely separate from the 1992 re-release and remix). Can anyone confirm this, or are my
timings off?!

Finally: this darned "radio mix" for "Stay". The version of it on the re-released HY album (828375-1/2/4)
runs a few seconds shorter than the original album mix (828266-1/2/4/5), but that's the only difference I can
pick up. Any ideas as to how to tell apart the album mixes from the "radio mix"?

I haven't heard back from Paul Oakenfold yet....but I guess we don't need him anymore, now we've got the
Fan Club! Anyone care to guess what the new single could be called??!! How about "Out Of My Life",
referring to the absence of Marcy??!! ;-)

Please send any guesses or discog. info to me.

 Mike.

Hi All!
It seems that in everyone's analysis of the "Stay" video, the fact that the boy is dying seem irrelevant. He's
hooked up to a respirator and a little heart bleep machine. Siobhan is "Death" or (Hecate from mythology)
coming out of that famous bright white light (the one from all temporary death experiences) to take him,
and Marcy is his lover trying to nurse him through his illness. Love fights death (tug tug tug); love
triumphs over death(hug hug hug). Death smiles because she is the inevitable winner anyway.

My first experience with Shakespear's Sister was one summer I was staying in Washington. Siobhan's
sardonic face had been taunting me from the Sacred Heart CD cover for eons as I passed her in the record
store aisle. I knew nothing about Shakespear's Sister or Siobhan Fahey and scant info about Bananarama.
But I made an impulse buy and was floored how good it was.

Then, in a Psychic Friends Network twist of fate, Hormonally Yours came out the next month. And the
Stay video began playing neverendingly on MTV and VH1. I was suddenly inundated in a sea of Siobhan
Fahey, and I wasn't complaining. She is a spicy temptress.

I saw SS play on their Hormonally Yours tour at the Roxy in LA. It was outstanding. I was about 3 feet
from the stage, standing room only. Siobhan was magical. Oh yeah, Marcella was good too.

And I have to agree with Sarah's "Stay" interpretation. Marcella is definitely mortal and earthbound, while
Siobhan bides her time as a female Death Incarnate. And a sassy one at that.

did someone before mention that siobhan on "top of the pops" was merely holding a guitar and not playing

(after her "you'd better hope and pray..." part) and i honestly enjoy her performance whether or not she is

i noticed a song by dave stewart, "chelsea lovers," in which he writes: "she felt like a loser on top of the

and in an interview marcella said it was _her_ husband (not dave stewart) who had the idea for stay based
on "catwomen from the moon."

Hi. I'm Kenneth Walsh in Washington, DC.

I was finally able to get Sacred Heart on CD this weekend (it's taken me forever to find a store in DC that
could even special order it) ... I hadn't heard the whole album since the late '80s when my cassette was
stolen from my car ... what a treat. I consider myself to be this major fan, but you know, it's taken me until
this weekend to figure out whose voice is whose (ok, everyone make fun of me). I think I've been confused
all these years because my best friend must have assumed that Siobhan had the higher voice ... so he told
me that in her new group, she just sang back up. I thought this was very odd, especially since she was the
only one on the first LP cover ... but I think I have it down now. I have to say I don't care for the inside
photo of Sacred Heart ... when was it decided to market them as more of a duo (a la Hormonally Yours)
and does anyone know if Siobhan had any misgivings about their biggest hit's being sung primarily by
Marcella ("Stay")?

SSML-9, 27 April 1996

Newsflash!!

I just got a letter back from the Fan Club (it's actually called "Harmonally Yours"), which stated in part:
"The new S.S. album will be released this summer and the first single from the album will be out 27 May".
(That's in the UK anyway!)

There is a new subscription price of UK4.50 pounds for UK/Europe subscribers, but it remains at US$9 for
those in the US, or UK5.50 pounds elsewhere. Cheques/checks or Money Orders should be made payable
to Janine LaDouceur, and sent to Harmonally Yours,
 5 Freda Corbett Close,
 LONDON, SE15 6UN, ENGLAND.

In her letter, Janine says that the fan club has actually been running for 5 years. So we've been
missing out all this time! My cheque is now in the post.......

Well most of the tracks are only off by a few seconds and that rarely means anything, BUT "Could You Be
Loved" is 4:13 it actually has that "could you be could you be could you be loved" rap-ish thing twice. one
of them is only about a minute into the song and the other one is towards the end (like the Uk version). I
never would have noticed this if you didn't ask!

> The US pressing of the Hormonally Yours album seems to have some different mixes as well. "Let Me

Ok, with "Andre" the US version fades out early during the ending, but it doesn't seem like the UK is really
40 seconds longer (I don't have a precise time on the UK one since I only have it on vinyl, and the British
see no reason to put running times on their records!)

The US Black Sky Fades out rather than running into Andre, and there is quite a gap between the two songs
to account for that time. They sound exactly the same (in a side by side comparison). The US times you
have are correct according to the CD.

It's the same thing with Let Me Entertain You. The US one has an extra "HUH" at the end and then a long
gap before the next track. Once again, I don't know how to explain the 30 sec difference, because side by
side they are the same.

> I am also curious about the original single release of "Goodbye Cruel World". The original album
version runs for about 4.06 ; whereas most versions on the 1991 release of the singles seem to run for
I'm afraid your timings are off, or you are not taking into account that the CD time includes silent lead-in
and out. I didn't actually time the different releases but did the side by side playing thing again. (Sometimes
having 2 turntables, two cd players and a mixer does come in handy.) They all were the same.

A lot of the different mixes of the singles from this album are barely different. Don't stress over it if you
can't pick up on a difference. You can try listening to them side by side, but I don't know if it's worth it.

I think I read something about the "Stay" video being banned, or restricted at least, in Germany due to the
"demonic" image of Siobhan's character in the clip. This is just from memory, so may be totally wrong....it
seems unlikely the clip would have been totally banned anyway, though possibly it was only allowed to be
played in adult timeslots....?

I guess we'll hear more about relations between Siobhan and Marcy when the new album/single
comes out, and the interviews start happening. For now, though, Siobhan had this to say in "Women, Sex
and Rock'n'Roll" (by Liz Evans, Pandora, London 1994):

"By the time it came to the second album Marcy wanted to more of a profile. I didn't want to be unfair to
her, she was singing and co-writing so I thought she ought to be in Shakespears Sister with me. She wanted
fifty percent of everything, so I said OK, as long as I remained in the driving seat. And we actually worked
really well together, but it was weird because socially we didn't gel at all. As people we just did not click".

In the next mailout, I'll list all the songs that Siobhan is credited as having written (according to BMI).

Some notes: 'Jack Mix V', 'Ooops Up' and 'Sampled...' are megamixes that use part(s) of S/A/W era
Bananarama songs (can anyone confirm which songs??).
'I Never Could Sing Anyway', and 'Do I Scare You' were written by Siobhan with Robert Hodges, and
presumably were recorded by the Bluebells (who also recorded a version of 'Young At Heart').
This leaves 'Overcome In 60 Seconds', co-written with Marcy and Adrian Thaws.

Does anyone know who Adrian Thaws is??
This is not complete; it ignores "Waiting" and "Prehistoric Daze" for starters.
Then there's the song Siobhan wrote with hubby Dave Stewart, "Chain Reaction", recorded by Australian
singer John Farnham. (But that song is omitted from Dave's listing as well).
