Chapter Three: Friends Don't Let Friends

"How can you guys have so much energy?" Leigh asked when everyone had reboarded the bus to go back to the hotel.

"Well, when the fans yell and scream, it kinda picks you up," Kevin said.

Cordelia laughed. "I think you said almost the exact same thing in some interview."

"So I guess I'm telling the truth," Kevin said, smiling.

"That," Cordelia said," Or you rehearse that answer a lot."

"What's everyone doing tonight?" Nick asked.

"Calling Grace," AJ said. "Then sleeping."

"We're going out to dinner," Howie said, pointing to the now fully awake Deanna.

"And Kev and I are going to a movie," Vanessa said.

"I guess Brian and I are entertaining you two," Nick said.

"You don't have to entertain us," Leigh said."

"But I want to," Nick said. "It's nice to be around new people."

"I heard that the arcade in our hotel is pretty cool," Cordelia said.

"OH YEAH!!!" Nick said. "It rocks!"

"Do they have Mortal Kombat?" Cordelia asked. "It's one of my faves."

"Yeah they do," Nick said. He turned to Leigh and asked, "Do you wanna play?"

"You and Cordelia go ahead," Leigh said. "I hate getting beat."

When the bus got to the hotel, Brian announced he was taking a walk.

"I'll go with you," Leigh said. "If you don't mind, of course."

"Sure. C'mon," Brian said. "We can meet Nick and Cordelia in the arcade."

They walked down the street. "I'm hungry," Brian said.

"What do you want to eat?" Leigh asked.

"We can get munchies in the liquor store," Brian said.

They went into the liquor store and picked up donuts, potato chips, and licorice. When they got to the counter, he asked the clerk for a bottle of tequila.

"Tequila?" Leigh asked, as they were leaving the store.

"Yeah," Brian said. "I feel like getting smashed."

"Do you want company?" Leigh asked.

"Sure," Brian said. "Wait. How old are you?"

"Seventeen," Leigh said. "It's not like I've never been drunk."

"All right," Brian said. "Lets hit the arcade first."

Nick and Cordelia were completely absorbed in their game.

"Who's winning?" Brian asked.

"Me," Nick said, never taking his eyes from the screen.

"We've got some food," Brian said.

"Okay, we'll be right up," Nick said. "Best two out of three."

"Until I've won two and Nick says best five out of seven," Cordelia said.

"Okay, we'll see you upstairs," Brian said.

Brian entered his room and set two glasses on a table. "You sure about this?" he asked.

"Are you?" Leigh asked. "It's not good to drink alone Brian?"

"Bottoms up," Brian said, downing a shot of tequila.

Leigh drank her own shot.

After a half an hour, Nick and Cordelia still weren't in the room. "So why are drinking Brian?"

"My girlfriend was supposed to be here tomorrow," Brian said. "She called to say she couldn't come, and I guess I'm just a tad disappointed. And pissed."

"Anybody would be I guess," Leigh said.

They were sitting on one of the beds. They turned to each other.

"You don't look sixteen," Brian said, obviously drunk.

"I hope not," Leigh said. "I'm seventeen."

"You look older," Brian said.

"Thanks I guess," Leigh said.

"You like Nicky?" Brian asked.

"I'm not quite su-" Leigh was saying until Brian kissed her. She was shocked, but she kissed him back.
