A week and a half later
Kevin was staring at the TV when Brian came into his room. "What's up Kev?"
"Just watching TV," Kevin mumbled, even though he knew his mind was in an apartment bedroom, not too far away.
"Okay, but isn't that easier when the TV is on?" Brian asked, plopping down on the bed next to Kevin. "So whatcha thinkin' 'bout?"
"Vanessa," Kevin admitted. "And the fact that we are going to Ohio tommorow."
"Oh, that," Brian said. "So?"
"I'm so screwed Brian!" Kevin groaned.
"She's not pregnant or anything, is she?" Brian asked, with growing alarm.
"Not to my knowledge," Kevin said. "I love her B-Rok."
"You're right," Brian said. "You're screwed."
"You are so helpful," Kevin said. "What can I do? What should I do?"
"You can do whatever you want," Brian said. "You should do whatever you know is right for you."
"But what about the group?" Kevin asked.
"First of all, the group is NOT as important as your happiness," Brian said. "And second of all, why would being with Vanessa affect your being a BSB?"
"I don't know," Kevin said.
"Well, I don't envy you at all," Brian said. "You'll know what to do though." With that, Brian got up and left the room.
Kevin paced his room awhile. Then he went to the phone and dialed a familiar number.
"This is Donna," the familiar voice answered.
"Hi Donna," Kevin said. "This is Kevin."
There was silence on the other end.
"Look Donna," Kevin said, "I'm really sorry the way things worked out, but I'm in trouble, and I didn't have anyone else to turn to. You have every right to hate us for the rest of your life and hang up on me. But I'm begging you."
"What is it Kevin?" Donna asked.
"Thank you Donna," Kevin said. "I've met this girl, Vanessa, and she's great. But we're leaving and I'm so confused."
"Do you love her?" Donna asked.
"Well, I...I," Kevin mumbled.
"Don't think about it," Donna said. "Do you love her?"
"Yes," Kevin said.
"Where is she from?" Donna asked.
"New York," Kevin answered.
"Kevin, you're 27. If you love her, there are many different things you could do," Donna said. "Long-distance relationships can work, but not often. You could take her on tour. You could marry her.
"Marry her?" Kevin asked.
"It's your life," Donna said.
"Thanks again Donna," Kevin said. "I'm really glad I called you."
"I'm glad you called me too," Donna said. "And I hope you make the right choice."
