Intro:	D D(?) F# F

        D
I had a scratch only you could itch
	D(?)
Underneath the Glebe Point Bridge
	   F#m
And now every boy in a knitted vest
    F
Has got some precedence
	D
So I took a personality pill
    D(?)
And something red to swirl
	   F#m
And now every fire has gone out
	     F
And every heart that wanted to kill
			  Em F#m7 A
Let's call it a day

	 D
Every thought that I once had sound
		   D(?)
Will have to hardtail the boys around
		F#m
Cos there ain't no room in the city today
	    F
For even nations that you just can't say

	 D
Found out what shame can mean
          D(?)
In purple sneakers and grey jeans
		F#m
And every walk to school that once made sense
	F
Sure felt like an accident
			 Em F#m7 A
Lets call it a day

(Chorus)
D A
For every trouble you found
		Bm Em(2)
There's a drink to lose in and drown
    F# G
But do you need somebody
   Gm
To feel somebody
(Chorus)

D
Everyday who wants that sound
		   D(?)
Will have to hardtail the boys around
	   F#m
I don't hate I just feel bitter
	F
When no one else is around

	D
So I took a personality pill
    D(?)
And something red to swirl
	   F#m
And now every fire has gone out

And every heart that wanted to kill

Purple Sneakers, BY YOU AM I

Capo the 2nd fret.
This song is possibly Tim's best. The film clip, which shows them doing this
song live, was the place to start when I tried to work this song out. Its hard
to see, but most of the chords are situated around the capo and don't look that
complicated. I always accentuate the higher notes. This is just my
interpretation. I think when playing a song, complicated guitar riffs aren't
always right. Below is a minimalist version of the song that lets as many notes
ring on open strings as possible (which is a common trait of You Am I songs).
