Captain's Log, Supplemental: The Enterprise is due to arrive at Ma'at for the Intergalactic Peace Conference in two days. The annual conference is a meeting with representatives from all races in the Federation, and presents the opportunity for new member races to meet and interactive with old ones. I am pleased to say that our own Lieutenant Hayes and his band Savage Garden will be the official entertainment for the conference, providing their musical services for both the opening and closing ceremonies. Dr Crusher has informed me that the Lieutenant's accident while on Neith was not seroius enough to hinder his performance, and everything seems to be going according to schedule.
Darren stayed in his cabin for the rest of the day. Dr Crusher had temporarily relieved him from duty until after the conference, and Colby had cancelled school for the day so that she could spend some time with Darren. The drugs were taking their toll on Darren, and so he ended up napping through most of the day. He didn't notice it at first, but after awhile the quiet seemed unusual. Suddenly it snapped -
"Colby, where's Obi?"
"Obi? Huh? Who's Obi?"
"Obi, our dog? The one that we bought together a couple of months ago."
"Darren, I don't know what that phaser did to you but we don't have a dog - we never have."
"Oh" Darren paused, "I could have sworn..." Darren's voice trailed off. It still didn't seem right, but maybe the phaser did have more of an effect on him than he thought. "You know what, Colbs, I think I'm going to turn in early. I'm meeting with the band in the morning to talk about the set list and stuff, and I don't want to be groggy."
"Okay honey. I've got some marking to catch up on anyway. Have a good sleep."
Darren tossed and turned all night - nightmares plagued him about the shooting, and twice Colby was forced to wake him from them. Colby vowed to talk to Counsellor Troi in the morning - Darren was going to need more than neuro-tranquilizers to get him through this ordeal.
