Imbolc

Imbolc is the first holiday celebrated in a pagan year. It falls on February 2. Imbolc represents the rebirth of the God, or the sun, and the coming fertility of the spring and summer.

Tradition on Imbolc is to light every lamp in the house, for even just a few moments, at sunset. This honours the sun's rebirth. It is appropiate, if snow is on the ground, to walk outside in it barefoot for a few moments, and recall the warmth and fertility of summer.

Traditional Imbolc foods include Onions, leeks, curries, garlic, chives, raisins, and spiced wine.
