Yule

The Yule holiday is the last one celebrated in a pagan year. It symbolizes the end of winter and the rebirth associated with the coming of spring.

One traditional Yu letide practice is the creation of a Yule tree. It can be a living, potted tree, or a cut one. Some Wiccan decorations that are used are strings of dried rosebuds and cinnamon sticks, or popcorn and crancerries, for use as garlands. Bags of spices are hung from boughs. Quartz crystals and oranges, apples, and lemons hanging from boughs make beautiful and natural decorations, and were customary in ancient times.

Another custom is the lighting of the Yule log. This is a reprentation of the rebirth of the God in the sacred fire of the Goddess. The traditional woods of Yule logs are oak and pine.

Traditional foods of the Yule feast are fruits, nuts, and pork.
