Way back in 1980 or so Cyndi Lauper hit the scene. She was cute and she dressed funny. I remember when the 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' song came out. It was sort of painful for me....

but I kinda liked her style. She hung out with all these weirdos with rubberbands in their facial hair and she liked wrestling......besides the

video for the aforementioned song she didn't annoy me. Later when I heard some of her ballads like 'Time After Time', and 'True Colors', I realized that she was a truly awesome singer. There are very few females who 'rock'. You have Janis Joplin, Pat Benatar, Rosebud, and Cindy Lauper. That's about it.

When Cyndi hit the scene she shined amid the no-talent female voices of Madonna, Bananarama, Debbie Gibson, and that guy from Jefferson Airplane.

I would cry when she sang

... and go out and kill a rabbit or a squirrel or something. It just made me so sad when she got left in that trailer all alone just cause her haircut was a little weird. It wasn't right.

Today Cyndi Lauper still kicks ass. She has a new album out and has been touring with Tina Turner.

It's the first time I ever saw a pregnant chick kicking ass.

Despite her old and new record company crafted images, she has always kept a solid down-to-earth and honest style to her tunes. Performing while pregnant, Cyndi shows once again that she just don't care about 'fitting in'.

Yes, The Strangler likes Cyndi. She's OK....and money doesn't always change everything. Her spirit will live on and her music will stand the test of time. She will not be hidden away from the rest of the world. Just call her name and you know she'll be there... She bop... She bop... She bop... She bop. Cyndi we love you.
