Rosebud's

Rosebud's been playing music in San Diego for as long as I can remember. She was the frontwoman for my favorite all-time San Diego band, 'Night Soil Man'. That was back when they had those crazy 'Zendig Farms' shows. Night Soil Man disappeared for awhile and I always wondered what had happened. I heard some rumors about a member dying in some kind of accident.... and also that Rosebud had given up rock n' roll forever. While the other members of N.S.M. showed up playing in new outfits like 'Drive Like Jehu', I never saw Rosebud again. Until just recently that is...
A few years ago she came out of hibernation to release an album under the name, 'Leather Muffin', and soon after that another album under the name 'Bug Guts'. Now she's put out a self-titled CD called 'Thundermug Honeypot'. Rosebud is back and her voice is stronger than ever.
The test I will give anything I review is simply this: Is it good music to kill someone to? ...for 'Thundermug Honeypot' the answer is yes. I think this album calls for a nice slow asphyxiation. A sedated mormon would be a good victim. The lyrics are mostly bohemian, which is usually not my style, but in this case I can relate. I especially liked the 'Fuck Shit Up' song which was a creed I held close to my heart during my teenage years. There's one especially sad number about nursery ryhmes which I think would go quite well with a slow tightening grip on a sedated mormon neck.
So get yourself a nice armchair, a pair of headphones, a cannabisquit, and a greedy, fat, sedated mormon with a ten-year old for a wife....and enjoy Rosebud's latest.
