In early 1997, Embrace came under the spotlight.
The world was introduced to this new band from the Huddersfield/Bradford/Leeds area, on this article
which appeared on the NME early 1997.
At that time they were unknown, and the band has been
spending several years just writing and improving songs, followed by a series of gigs, mostly in Leeds (including one
in Sound City 96.) They have just signed to Hut, and
were
about to release their first single, with a tour scheduled in February
supporting the Longpigs.
The events which took place in the next few months
were staggering. All 1500 copies of their debut single - demo versions
of "All You Good Good People" and "My Weakness Is None Of Your Business" - sold out almost
instantly. They've released 3 excellent EPs to date, all of which
reached the top 40. With every release doing better than the last, the latest
"All You Good Good People" reaching No.8.
We've got another EP coming our way. Called "Come Back to
What You Know", it is reckoned to be their strongest to date.
And then it's the long awaited debut album "The Good Will Out",
which will probably be the best debut album this decade, followed
by a slot at Glastonbury, headlining the 2nd stage on Friday.
