EVERY TIME YOU CRY
26-10-97
Tonight I was listening to the radio (an adult contemporary chart countdown hosted by Richard Wilkins on Sydney's MIX FM), and to my surprise John came on the radio and briefly explained how the duet with Human Nature came about. I was caught by surprise and didn't have a tape handy, but this is what I can remember of the story.
Back in March 97 a charity roast was held in support of Parkinson's Syndrome, and John Farnham and Glenn Wheatley were the guests of honour.
Human Nature performed on the night, and this was the first time he had really listened to them sing. John was very impressed by what he heard and the way they interacted with each other on stage.
John turned to Wheatley, and said that he wanted to do something with these guys (or something to that effect). John had a song that he thought would work well, and he recorded his part and then sent the master tape, along with a few ideas of what they could do with the song, to Human Nature in Europe, where they were supporting Michael Jackson.
Human Nature went into the studio in London, where they capitalised on John's ideas and took the song even further, and in John's words, "nailed it".
