Tuesday, September 29th - More Masterplan Info

More information about the Oasis b-sides album, "the Masterplan" (to be released November 2nd), has come out. In the UK, it will be sold at a reduced price of 10.99 CD and 6.99 cassette. The worldwide release will be a day later, on November 3rd.

Although no singles will be released around "the Masterplan", a live version of "Acquiesce" will be made a video clip, with footage both from the Oasis gig at the G-Mex and exclusive shots from the worldwide tour.

The cover art is a young Noel teaching adults music in a classroom.

Saturday, September 19th - Liam Hurt by Untrue Alligations

On the 3rd of August, 1996, the day before the big Oasis concert in Loch Lomond, an accident occured, and a worker named James Hunter was crushed to death between a forklift truck and a lorry at the site.

Liam was shocked yesterday as Alan Hall, a security guard at the event, claimed that an "outburst" by Liam at the time made the crew try and move a truck stuck in the mud and brought to the death of the worker.

An Oasis Management representative says that Liam was at the time on stage and was not aware of the problems the crew had with the truck and certainly did not demand it was moved. In other words, the tabloids are picking on Liam once again.

Saturday, September 5th - Noel: Working Class Hero?

"Rock the Dock" is the name of a new benefit CD that will bring in money to help a group of former dockworkers from Liverpool, who were fired in 1995 for protests over work conditions.

Noel is one of the people who on Thursday supported the launch of the new album. You must admit he has shown some signs of loving and compassion lately for his working class mates.

However, rumour has it Noel changed his licence plate to "FOB 4", which stands for, according to Noel "Fook Off Brother". I guess some things never change.

Friday, September 4th - Noel Prompts Anti-Drug Crusader's Resignation

Oasis are one of those band that on a daily basis drink beer and take drugs. And Noel has no problem admitting and saying that to everyone.

"It's like getting up and having a cup of tea in the morning," he said about drug intake, after Brian Harvey of East-17 got fired for making positive drug remarks.

The head of "Scotland Against Drugs", an anti-drug UK government-funded agency, David Macauley, resigned from his job saying that Tony Blair gave young people the impression that drug abuse was tolerable, inviting Noel to his digs at No. 10 Downing Street in July 1997 and not doing anything about his comments and actions.

Monday, August 31st - Oasis Look Back In Regret

And more about Gallaghers in movies: A hotly-tipped British movie called "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" could have had Noel and Liam starring as the two main roles of the movie, hardmen from the north of England.

Instead, they turned the parts down, and are now regretting that. This is what Noel has to say: "The parts were apparently written for us, but we were too busy to do it at the time. I wish I'd done it now."

Since Oasis have a lot of free time now, after the BHN tour, if the jobs were offered now Noel and Liam would have probably took them.

Thursday, August 27th - Noel To Stroll Down Abbey Road For Film

Next month, a new film called "Mad Cows" is scheduled to start filming in the U.K. It will be a comedy about the misadventures of an Australian on vacation in London.

According to the Associated Press, our kid Noel is planning on making a small appearence in the movie, in which he will stroll across the famous Abbey Road intersection seen on the Beatles' "Abbey Road" album.

I don't know yet what exactly will be Noel's part in the movie, but the important thing is that he found yet another way to salute the Fab Four.

Tuesday, August 25th - Noel Talks

Noel attended the V98 in Chelmsford this weekend and answered some questions backstage. He revealed that the other band members are beginning to write material for the next Oasis album, especially Liam, who wrote a great song called "Little James".

Noel also announced that Oasis will probably be in the studio beginning next year and that right now a new direction music-wise is unlikely (!). Also, Noel says that he hasn't been working or planning on working with anyone except opening a few Paul Weller gigs, and promises he'll try and keep a low profile in order not to get in too much trouble.

The full "interview" with Noel will be featured on the August 29th Hey Now News Digest issue.

Thursday, August 20th - Confirmed Masterplan Info

Finally, interesting details about the Oasis b-side album, "the Masterplan", have been confirmed. It will come out in early November, accompanied by a video of the live performance on the David Letterman show, and will have the following track listing:

Acquiesce, Underneath the Sky, Talk Tonight, Going Nowhere, Fade Away, the Swamp Song, I Am the Walrus, Listen Up, Rockin' Chair, Half the World Away, (It's Good) To Be Free, Stay Young, Headshrinker, the Masterplan.

So that's 14 tracks, all b-sides that have appeared on Oasis' UK singles over the years. It's an excellent oppertunity for those unfarmiliar with b-side Oasis to enjoy the great songs.

Monday, August 10th - Noel and Liam Take Up Sports

This is the first Oasis news update since the end of July. As you can see, not much has been going on with Oasis lately besides Noel finishing opening for Paul Weller in his gigs.

The Oasis keyboard player in the studio and gigs, Mike Rowe, claims that the Gallagher brothers have taken up sports: "I saw Noel and Liam last weekend and played croquet with them, but let me tell you - Noel might be one of Britain's best songwriters, but he's rubbish on the croquet pitch!"

Let's hope more serious news stories will come our way in the future, eh?

Wednesday, July 29th - Noel Will Not Open for the Verve

The rumours about Noel perhaps opening for the Verve on their upcoming U.S. tour just turned out to be false.

Since the subject spread out on the internet for some time now, the maintainter of Oasis Internet said that Noel will not be playing on any dates of the Verve tour.

Yesterday, the appearence of Noel on the Detroit show was apparently confirmed, but it now turns out that the rumours were totally false.

Thursday, July 23rd - Noel May Open for the Verve

The upcoming Verve tour ran into some technical personnel problems, and so Massive Attack, the band who were supposed to open for them, backed out of it.

According to rumours, Richard Ashcroft, the Verve's frontman and a good friend of Noel, asked him if he's interesed in opening for him instead of Massive Attack. Noel, according to the rumours, is excited about the idea.

My guess is that these rumours are made up by someone, because Noel alone can't open for the Verve, and Oasis together, I think, won't agree to do it.

Sunday, July 19th - Creation Records

And now for some Oasis news regarding Creation Records, Oasis' label.

First of all, they announced important info on the upcoming b-sides album: It will be called "the Masterplan" and will be released on November 2nd, 1998.

Also, some good news for fans interested in buying Oasis merchandise over the internet: Creation announced that they will, at the end of the year, place the entire Oasis catalog on the net, at prices that may very well be lower than the ones at stores.

Sunday, July 19th - Cuban Boy

If you've been visiting some other Oasis news sites the last few days you probably are aware of the whole "Cuban Boy" story. It's a rumour, denied strongly by Noel, that's spreading stubbornly about him and Paul Weller being the ones responsable for a new UK dance track called "Cuban Boy".

To see the Cuban Boys website, which contains a small clue to Noel responsable for the track, as well as a short clip of the song, click here.

I, for one, really hope these rumours are just rumours, because I definitely don't want Noel to lead a solo dance music career.

Friday, July 17th - Liam Reaches Settlement In Assault Case

Ben Jones, that Australian fan who allegedly got headbutted by Liam some time ago, reached a settlement with Liam in which he is payed around $98,000.

If you can't remember, let me remind you that Liam, according to Jones, headbutted him outside a Queensland hotel, while Jones was trying to take a photograph of Liam.

Although he says he didn't do it, this settlement saves Liam a civil complaint in England, and a lot of annoyance by the media - for him, his family, and the rest of the band.

Sunday, July 5th - Liam Records Ode to Stepson James

It has been confirmed with Oasis' spokesperson that Liam has recorded, along with Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Steve Cradock, an untitled song for his five-years-old stepson James.

"It's a beautiful tune and very emotional," said Cradock. "In the song, Liam talks about how James has changed his life. He really put his heart and soul into it and said he had wanted to record it for a long time."

Not only that, the spokesperson has also said that the song is one among many written lately by Liam and that they may appear on future Oasis albums! We'll live and see...

Thursday, July 2nd - B-Sides Album

Oasis have decided that their forthcoming b-sides album will be released worldwide. The album was originally intended for release solely in those territories where the b-sides and singles were only available on expensive import cds (eg USA). However, since so many people are interested in it, a decision was made that people all around the globe will be able to buy it.

It is also now official that the album will come out on the week of November 2nd, although a specific date was not yet set.

Thursday, June 17th - Confirmed B-Sides

The Official Oasis Home Page has five of the b-sides that will come out on the b-sides album. These songs were some of the most frequently voted for by fans:

Stay Young (b-side to "D'You Know What I Mean?"), Acquiesce (extra track off "Some Might Say"), Talk Tonight (b-side to "Some Might Say"), Half the World Away (extra track off "Whatever"), Fade Away (extra track off "Cigarettes & Alcohol").

They also say that the rumours saying the release will be November 3rd are not completely right, but that the album will definitely come out late Autumn this year.
