HARD ROCK CAFE

LOS ANGELES, CA--AUGUST 3rd 1997

*Due to the resignation of our incompetent California Correspondent, the BOYZONE U.S.A. administration has decided to cut the crap and write the Los Angeles review themselves*

*Just Kidding -- she went off to college. We miss you and we wish you all the luck in the world.*

Hour by Hour with BOYZONE U.S.A.

The Excitement Builds!

Sunday 7:30 am

Fan Club officers M. Alanis and Roxanna L. scurry from room to room trying to figure out what to wear (they live next door to each other). Meanwhile, Patty and Veronica (fan club members) were on their way to Roxanna's place.

8:30 am

As Patty and Veronica arrived to Roxanna's place, the fan club officers were STILL trying to decide what to wear. Should they go casual? Or dressy? Ah...decisions,decisions.

9:00 am

Our Transportation Officer, Steven Becker, finally arrived. Fortunately, the officers were already dressed. As they all piled into the club mini van they realized that none of them had had breakfast. Off to McDonalds they went.

9:30 am

After purchasing 4 Sausage McMuffins w/ Egg and McPancakes for Patty (M.Alanis had had papaya at home so she didn't order anything) the fabulous five went on their merry way to Universal Citywalk Hard Rock Cafe.

10:03 am

As we got to the Hard Rock we met up with a friend and intern at PolyGram Latino. She gave us our VIP passes and gave us some extras for the other members that hadn't arrived yet. We set out and chose our table on the upper level of the restaurant. We decided that we would have a nice view on top and then later move down towards the stage when the show started.

11:00 am

As the Hard Rock started letting the other people go upstairs we decided to gather some members (and non-members) to leave the establishment and hand out fliers promoting the show and the fan club. Some of the officers also started handing out T-shirts at the Record Company's request.

12:45 pm

After pounding the pavement for an hour and forty-five min, the weary canvassers returned for lunch. They had Cheeseburgers, Milkshakes, Sodas, Buffalo wings, Chicken Ceaser Salads and for dessert Steven had a banana split. YUM! We were much too full to have dessert. =) While we were eating, BOYZONE entered the building. As they passed right by our table, M.Alanis said hello to Steve and Ronan. They went into a back office and we continued eating.

1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

During this hour BOYZONE did a myriad of things. They had a photo session (they posed next to the Hard Rock Cafe Harley Davidson Motorcycle), and were interviewed by several journalists (a British radio station was even there). They also took some time out to take some pictures with some fans (Roxanna took a pic with Shane and so did Veronica and the Prez, Patty missed taking a pic with him 'cause she ran back to tell Steven she had gotten Shane's autograph...poor baby ). Then the guys took their sweet 'ole time to get onstage and perform their songs.

2:00 pm and after...

BOYZONE finally began their show. We were so excited! Finally, after so many weeks of planning, after so many preparations with the fan club and distributing fliers at various malls and shopping centers (Beverly Center and Glendale Galleria) the Universal Citywalk, and the Third Street Promenade, we were finally able to see the BOYZ in concert.

The BOYZ went up onstage amidst screams of adoring fans. They performed "Mystical Experience" "Words" "A Different Beat" "Don't Stop Looking For Love" and "Isn't it a wonder." It was a great show! The press was very impressed with the BOYZ, and the BOYZONE U.S.A. president even got interviewed by foreign TV station! It was so cool to look over at her and see her answering questions! Unfortunatly, BOYZONE were not able to hold a fan autograph session because of time constraints, but the 5 of us (plus 2 other girls we met up with at the concert) rushed off to the van and followed the BOYZ to the hotel and then to the airport (our friend at the record company told the Prez their flight number and departure time). We were the only ones there. It was great...we got to take so many pictures and talk to the guys. We can't wait for BOYZONE to come back!
