FOLKS TO TRADE WITH
Hi knuckleheads. It's April 2000 as I update this page. Here is a list of zines (and some other stuff too) that I like a whole lot. These aren't zine reviews, cuz I'm not listing zines I thought were lame or that I don't understand (unlike FF5, who never caught on that Conrad's article in 86PoP #7 was satire, but I digress).
I've gotten lots of zines by trading with others. It's really fun, you should give it a try. Here is a list of zines that I do trades with (and some that I just bought at the store but I still think they are cool). You can either send them your own creation, or send them the required money and/or stamps.
Beer Powered Bicycle
The slogan on the cover of issue #1 of Zack's zine is "Lookin at the world from a Lonestar state of mind." If you're not from Texas, you still might know that Lonestar is a yucky, cheap beer from Texas. You can get a 6 pack of Lonestar Tallboys for $3 and sneak them into shows and get really sh*tty...but I'm digressing. The whole concept behind this zine is that all ranting is written while the author is drinking beer (he gives appropriate credit to Peek-a-Boo Zine creators' Puke-a-Booze issue as partial inspiration, Right On!). Now I have to say that Zack really knows how to write while he's drunk (last time I saw him, he had about 6 empty beer bottles around him and he was still perfectly lucid), so don't think that this is a crappy zine. He actually has alot to say that I can relate to, sympathize with, and appreciate. His "f*ck-the-man" rants against driving cars, using cell phones in public, having to work sh*t jobs, and music snobs are enjoyable if you too are just a little bitter. Don't think it's all tough, macho crap, Zack's writing is actually sensitive without being too wussy. You should write Zack for this zine.

Boxcutter
I got issue#1 of this zine on recommendation from half a dozen kids and they were right. I knew it was gonna be good and bitter when I opened it up to the 1st page and the first thing I read was the title "Isn't Everything Great!"It's more than worth the 50 cents you pay for 14 pages of Jeremy's handwritten ranting and reviewing and record collecting tips, and his interview with an Eastern European punk kid.

BRAINSCAN
I've been trading with this rad kid forever. The newest issue (#11, march 2000) is really cool, with photos pasted onto the covers. Inside you'll find the reflections of a punk kid named Alex Wrekk, mostly sad punk love stuff. I eat that up. Oh yeah, it also happens to be a split with Eyecandy #14.

Puberty Strike
I don't know if Puberty Strike is still around, but you can find Seth on the web at his website for his distro, the super-8 underground.
Ten Thousand Things
KD notices all sorts of coincidences, all the little mysterious connections between things and tells you about them in his fun little zine. He also does tape trades, so if you have any home recordings, send him something. I got "The Clownward Spiral" from him and loved its creepiness.

Three Sheets to the Wind
I haven't seen this in a while. Ask Zack from Beer Powered Bicycle if he is still doing it or what.
Spongey Monkey
This is review zine, but I still like it. Issue #10 has stuff from Yoyo a GoGo (better pictures of bands than in 86 Pounds), and article about XBXRX (who are RAD, but they probably think I'm an asshole, but that's okay), an interview with the Steve Albini, and lots more. Chris gets points for liking the Prima Donnas and including flattering photos of those luscious Brits.

Beckett Tapes Fanzine
My friend Philip had this and gave it to me cuz he knew I was looking for it. Beckett is missing in action, but I still like his evil little zine almost as much as I like thinking of the time he was passed out in my roommate's car wearing a pink bunny suit and I was getting driven home from a party for trying to kick over their kitchen table. Oh, the memories. Anyway, this zine is sick and funny, like the name of his old band, Retard Bus. You will laugh and be glad that your friends don't know what you are laughing about. I can't tell you about it without giving the jokes away, but trust me, if you ever find Beckett Tapes Fanzine #2 (or any other issue), do your soul some damage and read it.

TWAT!
MJ and pals put this little masterpiece together to make you drool on your shirt with laughter. It is done by a crazy group of ladies who I personally believe should take over the House and Senate and rule the country. Items include the comic "Dirty Things That Have Happened to Me", "Ask Ms. Yeast Infection", "The Eunuch Book Report", and a back cover with a robot and the caption: "Robots Don't Give a Shit About Love."
