I am Right and if You Don't Agree - You are Wrong

Happy thoughts; I Like…..

  • 1. The fact that somebody, and we all know who, had the insight to pair up Madonna with William Orbit for her new album.
  • 2. The fact that Twilo figured out that importing Sasha and John Digweed from England the last Friday of every month would indeed be positive for all parties involved.
  • 3. The fact that the RPM chart in CMJ Magazine is moving closer to electronic music and farther away from industrial nonsense.
  • 4. The fact that independent labels are doing better than ever.
  • 5. The fact that Spin Magazine has finally realized it should focus on electronic music as well as alternative rock. More importantly they have chosen an editor that knows whats what.

Miserable thoughts; I Don't Like……..
  • 1. The fact that some DJs come up with gimmicks like crazy haircuts or cross-dressing to take the focus away from their lack of skills behind the decks.
  • 2. The fact that all videos on MTV lately look the same. Get out of the cube!
  • 3. The fact that a couple of big name electronic producers just did remixes for Hanson. Hmmm cashing in are you?
  • 4. The fact that crap compilations usually outsell long-players by electronic producers
  • 5. The fact that it took MTV so long to realize that the show AMP could work.
  • 6. The fact that candy-ravers wear 100$ Polo and Nautica shirts that say "Polo" or "Nautica" in huge letters across the front of their chest, when we all know Ralph Lauren's real shirts cost upwards of 750$, are not available in your local mall, and would never, ever, shout out "Polo" across the front of the shirt. Kiddies, stop label fronting. The clothes you have on aren't as cool as you think they are.
  • 7. The fact that I can't light up in a bar in California. Fuck Pete Wilson, the California state assembly and senate, and anybody else who helped put this law on the books. God help the bar owners.
  • 8. The fact that Rudy Guiliani and his ugly kid are very popular for their crusades in New York city.
  • 9. The fact that Alternative Press only gives Dave Segal a paltry 1-2 pages to cover the entire world of electronic music
  • 10. The fact that there is not a better word than electronica to describe the umbrella of music that includes techno, house, drum and bass, trance, down-tempo, and all of their sub-genres.
