RELIGION: is a bad idea in my opinion, but necessary for keeping the masses in line. I was raised Jewish, but around 6th grade or so decided that there was never a god and that religion in general was a sham. Since then, I have proclaimed myself an atheist and let no religion claim me (though I have not severed my ties with my jewish background - it's a bit tough to do with the number of relatives I have.)
TELEVISION: is wonderful if one doesn't take it too seriously or make the mistake of "killing the messenger" (i.e. hating television simply because it is a tool used by old anglo-saxon males to make money by spewing mindless crap between commercials that blatantly prostitute mass-produced prducts.) I love basically all cartoons and mainly watch EmptyVee, Comedy Central, and Cartoon Network.
