You never think meeting someone can change your whole life. Well, it can! Believe me when I tell you that it can! How do I know? Because about 5 years ago a group called the Backstreet Boys came into my life and things were never the same....
~December 11, 1999~
Brian slumped down in the chair and sighed for what seemed like the millionth
time that day. Truth is he was miserable, all he wanted to do was stay home,
but Nick dragged him over his house. Plus he couldn't miss, Nick's annual
Christmas party or he'd get his ass kicked. He decided since he had an hour
before the party actually started he could get some sleep, he slowly closed
his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
"Brian!" Michelle called.
He came over and kissed her nose, "Yes sweetums."
"It's Christmas Eve and you know what that means?" she said
excitedly,"Telling stories around the fire! Can you get everybody together
while I make hot chocolates?" she asked.
"Sure, but don't forget the marshmallows! Everybody will go crazy if they
don't get any!" Brian laughed as he walked away.
They both went their separate ways. The guys (BSB) decided that their
families didn't know each other that well and what better bonding time then
Christmas? They rented a cabin in the mountains so they could celebrate
without any fans. It had 3 floors, 10 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 living rooms,
etc. It was like a mansion, but cozier. Everybody's family was there. Nick
and his gang, Howie and his, Brian and Kevin's family, and A.J. brought his
mom and his girlfriend, Amanda. But of course, there was the extra addition,
Michelle. Brian had proposed to her the night before, but nobody knew yet,
Brian wanted to surprise everybody with news on Christmas Day, sort of like
one big present to his family, another daughter. No one seemed to notice the
ring on her finger except Nick, who brushed it off as an early Christmas gift
from Brian.
Brian started to move around in his sleep and had a worried look on his face.
Nick was watching him the whole time and debating whether or not to wake him.
"Brian! I'm going out to the car for a minute OK?" Michelle said putting on
her scarf and coat.
"What for?" he called back.
"I ran out of marshmallows and I think there's another bag in the car."
"OK, hurry back, I love you!"
"Love you too Bri-Bear!" she called him by her nickname for him, and walked
out the door, those being her last words.
Nick started to get worried, 'Maybe I shouldn't let him sleep, what if it's
happening again?' Nick thought, 'No, maybe it's best, maybe he just needs to
get it over with.' Nick settled back in his seat across from Brian still
keeping a watchful eye on him.
Brian sat on the couch holding on to Michelle's sweater for dear life. He
didn't know it, but he was crying, he was too far out of it to notice
anything. Mr. Littrell sat down beside Brian dreading what he was going to
say. He took a deep breath,
"Um, Brian...I....I have something to tell you," he said noticing Brian
didn't move an inch, "It's about Michelle," he continued then saw Brian look
at him with pleading eyes.
"Wha..What is it Dad?" Brian asked, his voice cracking.
Mr. Littrell let out a breath and looked Brian straight in the eye, "They
found her son," He saw Brian smile and it crushed him even more because he
hadn't told him the news yet, "She fell....when she was outside....I don't
think she knew where she was going, she slipped on the ice and fell down the
mountain.....Brian she's gone," All the color drained from his face instantly
and his body began shaking as those words echoed through his head.
She's gone.
She's gone.
She's gone.
She's gone.
She's gone.
She's gone.
She's gone.
She's gone.
"NO! MICHELLE!" Brian yelled as he woke up with a start and looked around the
room, before sitting back down in the chair. Nick ran over to Brian on
instinct.
"B, are you OK?" Nick asked and sat on the coffee table in front of Brian.
A silent tear slid down his cheek, "It's happening again," he whispered.
