~CINDY~
Eric slowly walked me to my door, as we approached it he stuck his hand in his pocket. Slowly bringing out his hand he revealed a small velvet box.He handed it to me and I naturally reached for it. Holding it in my hand I opened it gently. The small pendent glistened in the summers sun.
"Do you like it?" He asked sweetly.
"Of course I do," I replied almost at a loss for words.
He pulled out the silver chain anchored by a small silver angel with a golden halo and gingerly placed it around my neck. He pulled away but I quickly pulled him back, into a tight hug.
"Thank you." I said enjoying the warmth of his hands on my back. I reluctantly pulled away as he reached for my hand. Pulling me closer,my lip began to quiver in nervous anticipation. I closed my eyes as our lips tenderly grazed sending warm chills through my body gathering around my heart, a feeling that made me realize that he was everything I've ever asked for. He placed his warm hands around my waist as I put my arms around his neck drawing him in for more. I never wanted to let go, but I knew I had to. Our lips hesitantly parted. With my eyes still closed in fear that itwas all a dream... too good to be true, I let out the words I never thought I'd say, "You make me so happy."
I opened my eyes staring into his, he held me closer and said, "I never want to let go of you."
"You wont if you keep me in here." I replied warmly pointing to his heart. I pulled away.
"Well I guess this is good-bye." He responded unsure of his words.
"Yeah... call me once you get to Florida."
"I will."
I turned around fiddling with my keys to open the door, I didn’t want to turn around and watch him leave cause I knew it would hurt too much.
THE NEXT DAY...
"Yeah I know... he's just so sweet!" I squealed to Nancy as I told herwhat happened.
"So you told Eric how you feel?"
"Yeah... after we kissed I told him that he makes me so happy."
"Awwwwwwwwww... how sweet, but are you two official?"
"Don’t know... but who cares? He seems like he wants something serious."
"Do you love him?"
"Love?"
"Yes love!"
"No, it takes time to love and love is a big word. I don't want to sayI love him when I'm unsure."
"Okay, but you know that you'll be going through hell for someone you don’t love then."
"Yeah I know the distance will be killer... but even though I don’t love him it doesn’t mean it wont work out."
"It doesn’t mean it will work out either."
"You’re killing my happiness now."
"I'm just warning you before you get in too deep and end up dying to get out."
"No you’re just telling me this so you can say 'I told you so' if it doesn’t work out."
"Well that too."
"Shut up!!!"
"Sorry but I'm just watching out for you."
"Thanks for the kind gesture, but I believe it'll work."
"Whatever you say."
"At least sound a little more encouraging!" She rolled her eyes and continued to practice on her jump shot.
"Are you going to try out for the team at UCLA?" I asked.
"Change the subject why don't you!!" She smirked at me.
"You’re the one that seemed like you didn’t want to talk about it anymore."
"Okay, okay... yeah I'll try out, but only if you do."
"But I suck!"
"Yeah we all know that, but it doesn’t hurt to try!"
"Oh that was very encouraging." I replied sarcastically.
"Just try out please????????" "Stop pointing that corn nut head at me."
She sharply threw the ball at my stomach, I threw it back at her. Dodging the ball, it rolled off into the distance.
"Go get it!" she demanded.
"You get it!" I protested.
We argued for a good five minutes.
"I'm sorry but is this your ball?" Some albino guy asked heading toward us to give us our ball. Nancy took it and turned it around reading the lettering that she wrote on it a long time ago.
"Yeah it's Steven... thanks." She smiled at him.
"Steven?" He questioned.
"Yeah Nancy named him Steve- In a while back." I answered emphasizingthe IN part.
"Okay." He replied staring at us weirdly.
"Would you like to join my friends and I at a friendly game of ball?" He offered.
"Sure." Nancy replied.
I gave her one of those 'I don’t think so' looks and she whispered tome, "Aww come on, how bad could it be?"
I gave her an okay and we followed the guy to his friends. Four other white boys trying to play ball was all I could describe them with. But they weren’t that bad.
"Hey guys, do you mind if these two beautiful ladies join us?" Mr. Albino asked.
"Sure, yeah." They all agreed. They introduced themselves as Justin, J.C., Chris, Joey and Mr. Albino was Lance.
"Your names sound awfully familiar..." I trailed off.
They all acted clueless. I shrugged it off and yelled, "Lets play ball!"
We decided to play girls versus guys, so it was me, Nancy, and Lance, who the guys kept teasing because he was with us "girls".
"Lance, you a girl now?" The one named Justin mocked.
He kept on repeating that over and over again. What an ass I thought in my head. What an annoying wannabe ghetto boy. We took out, out of courtesy of the guys because we were helpless "girls". The game started out like anyone would expect, the guys were winning. It was 12-6, Nancy scoring more than half of our points and me scoring the rest. Lance, well, he played more girly than us. He sucked. He couldn't run, dribble, shoot, he couldn't play. Period. In half-time, or our rest period, I had a chat with Nancy.
"Time to take drastic measures."
"Yeah."
"This is the time we kick into fourth gear." Nancy looked at the guys a smile creeping into the corners of her mouth.
I laughed. "I know what you want to do. Let's do it."
"You ready to play ladies?" Lance asked as he walked up to us, he was still acting like he was the bomb.
Nancy smiled at me, I nodded my head. We took out again and Nancy made a nice quick reverse lay up schooling Justin. She was running all around them the next few minutes, making lay ups, setting up assists for me, and getting the ball which Lance got stolen from him, back. I was actually making the shots and we were finally tied. It was 15-15.
"Get in there!" Justin yelled, as the ball went in and out.
"Damn, the girls are running all around you Justin."
"Well its not like your helping either JC."
"Your supposed to be our star player, no wonder we lost to BSB last time, you suck when there’s pressure."
"Chris, you suck too, so don't even say anything. Don't worry about it,I won't take it easy on them this time."
The guys laughed. The next fifteen minutes or so was funny. But the guys managed to get to the lead again. Hell, even Joey was scoring. It was time to take to the drastic measures Nancy talked about. Nancy flashed a smile at me from across the court. She dribbled slowly, teasing her defender, which was Justin. Surprising Justin, she passed the ball to me in lighting speed.
The guys started running toward me when suddenly we heard the words,"Ow!!" echoing across the gym. The guys turned to look at Nancy who was sitting on the floor clutching her ankle, her face contorted with the lines ofpain. They ran off to help her and left me alone to dribble the ball. She quickly sprang up and smiled, "Just kidding." The guys looked at me bewildered but weren't fast enough to stop me from making a quick basket.
The next half an hour was wild. Nancy jumped onthe guys and held them so I could make shots. And the guys wouldn't dare call foul on us "girls" hey, I guess girls can have advantages. When stopping them physically wouldn't work, Nancy whispered to me. I smiled. In the middle of the court, I announced I was hot and sweaty, I started to pulloff my shirt. All of the guys stood were they were and wouldn't move. They were glued to the spot watching me tug at my shirt. Justin especially. Using the time wisely, Nancy made three easy points to tie the game. Then I pulled my shirt back down.
"Forget it." I smiled at them satanically.
They snapped back to reality and didn't play as well the next few minutes, they wouldn't dare approach me. The game was tied at 19-19, we were playing up to 20. Justin had the ball, and Nancy was guarding him. I was waiting to get the rebound, and Lance? He was jumping up and down asking for the ball. I don't even want to ask why. Justin tried a fake and with incredulous speed, Nancy pulled his shorts down and stole the ball. The guys hollered in laughter. Justin was beet red. Nancy passed the ball to me and I threw it high up in the air. She caught it in the air and shot at the same time. Its was a beautiful ally-oop. All ally, no oops.
Nancy and I hugged screaming with happiness and amazement. We turned to look at Justin and laughed along with the guys. He was still standing there with his shorts down. Nice boxers Justin, I love the happy faces." I commented.
Justin snapped out of it and pulled his shorts up and stormed away. We could hear the siren of the ambulance in the distance.
"Hear that?" Nancy said to the boys. "That's the ambulance coming totake you away because we beat you."
Nancy and I continued our little celebration with lots of hugs and laughter. The boys were watching us with the look that said 'weirdoes' with the exception of Justin who was gone somewhere. Lance was with the guys bragging about, in reality, doing nothing.
"Oh shit." Nancy said suddenly.
"What?" I asked"I just realized who those guys are." she whispered.
"Why you whispering?"
She whispered in my ear.
"Really? As in 'its tearing up my heart'?" I sung in a soft voice.
She nodded.
I laughed, "Hey you must feel really good about pantsing the guy you hate huh?" I asked not loud enough for the others to hear.
"You hate Justin?" JC asked coming up to us, for some strange reason he was smiling, Nancy not so kindly slapped my head.
"Ugh, no." She replied as I rubbed my head.
"We were talking about some other time when Nancy did that to some other guys she hates." I explained.
"Oh, right." JC replied obviously not believing me, he walked away grabbing a water bottle from Justin.
I turned to Nancy and asked, "What was that for... if you hate them why would you want to deny it?" She didn't answer.
"Omigod!!! You have a crush on Justin!" I pointed at her in a whisper.
"I do not!!" She yelled as she grabbed Steven heading toward the other courts outside. She sat in the shade of one of the backboards and I sat right next to her.
"You do." I accused once again.
"He is pretty funny, and nice, and-"
I cut her off. "What happened to you... you’re not the same Nancy that proclaimed her eternal love for Nick just a week ago." I said as she dreamily stared in Justin's direction. "OMIGOD." I repeated. The five sweaty guys approached us. "Losers get to take the winners out for lunch." JC offered politely.
Nancy gave me that I don’t think so look and this time I was the one to push her into doing against her will.
"Okay." She whined under her breath. We walked silently to our cars, they had a rented Ford Explorer while I made my way towards my baby Sebring.
"Nice car." Justin commented as I de activated the alarm. "Thanks." I replied. Before entering my car I asked if Justin wanted to ride with us. As soon as Justin accepted the offer JC asked if he could ride with us too, we all hopped into my car. JC and I were in the front leaving Justin and Nancy to sit in the back. The two cars pulled out of the drive way. Chris pulled up in front of us leading the way to whatever restaurant we were going to eat at. I pulled up next to him and asked Lance, who was sitting in the passenger side, where we were going to be eating.
"We don’t know." He replied after asking Chris.
"Follow me!!" I yelled cutting them off. \
I led the way to my favorite restaurant ever, Tommy's. One of their burgers can give you heartburn for days but they were the best chili burgers to ever walk this planet. We ordered our food to go, which is the only option when ordering from Tommy's, and drove to Griffith Park for a nice lunch/picnic in the park.
"Did you know that this is the place where that murderer called The Strangler dumped all his victims." I asked as we finished up our lunches.
"God Cindy you are so disgusting." Nancy commented chewing on one of her chili fries.
"Yeah I know but it is true." I added.
~NICK~
We were a couple of days into our rehearsals for our US tour. Mandy,Leigh Ann, and Amanda (AJ's girlfriend) watched as we practiced our moves onstage. It was a week after we last saw Nancy and Cindy, but I talked to Nancy a day after we arrived in Florida about how her and Cindy beat N Sync in a friendly game of ball. "Take 5" Skip, our new tour manager yelled to us. I jumped off the stage and hugged my Mandy lovingly. "You were great babes." She commented. I kissed the top of her head and thanked her. AJ was also cuddling with his beau but Brian and Leigh Ann, on the other hand, were a whole different story."Brian you’ve been avoiding me ever since you came back from Los Angeles, what’s wrong with you?!?" Leigh Ann yelled.
"I don’t know." Was his only pathetic excuse.
"What kind of excuse is that?!?"
"Can you just stop yelling?"
"I have every right to, but I love you and with the way things are going it seems like you don’t love me anymore."
"I do."
"Then say it Brian, tell me you love me."
He didn’t answer, he just looked down to the ground in deep thought, trying to translate what his heart was saying to his mind.
"Damn it Bri, I don’t want to lose you... you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Please don’t do this to me." She pleaded as almost everyone in the stadium watched.
I pulled away from Mandy, she looked at me with understanding, she knew I had to intervene before something serious happened. I walked over to Brian and pulled him away.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I asked as I took him to a rather secure place away from Leigh Ann and everybody else's ears.
"I just need time to think, all these feelings I feel just cant be translated right now." He explained.
Even though we were secluded from everybody's ears I could still see Leigh Ann cry on Mandy's shoulder. I could tell that Mandy was doing everything she could to comfort her.
"Look Bri, you better translate fast or that girl right there will translate for you whether you like it or not. You don't want her to leave do you?" I asked, my voice filled with concern.
There was no answer.
"Even though I am younger than you I've seen a lot of broken hearts ... most of which were caused by me, and looking at Leigh Ann... she's the worst case I’ve ever seen." I said... still no answer.
He just looked down at the floor as silence surrounded us.
He finally spoke, "I don’t want to break her heart... I don’t want to hurt her, but I have no clue as to what I want to do."
"Well you better have some clue to what you’re going to say to her... cause she coming this way." I stated patting him on the back.
"Do you love me?" She asked forwardly, approaching him.
Mandy slowly crept up from behind me and wrapped her arms around my waist resting her head on my back. She loosened her grip as I turned around to face her, embracing her in my arms... I listened to their argument
"I don't know." Brian replied.
"Look babes I'm willing to do all I can to save whatever is left of our relationship if you are ... are you?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know? We've been together for three years and you leave for six fucking months coming back as a whole different person... what do you mean you don’t know?"
"I'm afraid, afraid that that if I dig down deep inside for my true feelings it'll hurt you and hurt me. I'm not sure about my love for you anymore and even if I told you that I do love you and I dig down I’m afraid of what I might find. If you’re willing to do anything at all to save us just give me time to sort my feelings out. I need some time away from you so I know you’ll be safe from whatever I decide to do"
"Are you saying we should break up?"
"Just for a short time."
"As much as I want to save us I don’t want you toying with my emotions either. I don’t want us to break up now and you come back to me, or not come back to me. Either we break up for good or we stay together."
"Then I'll have to say we should break up." I turned around in shock to see the painful look on Leigh Ann's face.
It looked as though she expected Brian to say they should stay together. The sound of her fragile heart breaking could be heard from miles away, her tears streamed down her face and all she could say was, "Okay."
She turned around while Mandy went to comfort her.
"Are you okay?" Mandy questioned tenderly.
"No." Was Leigh Ann's sad reply.
I walked up to Mandy as she held Leigh Ann's head on her shoulder.
"I'm going to drive her home... I'll call you later." She said escorting Leigh Ann to the nearest chair to calm her down.
I turned to face Brian. "I got to go," He excused himself from the group.
"Wait!! We still got rehearsal!" I yelled hoping it would stop him, but nothing could.
He left the stadium totally disregarding everyone's attempts to make him stay. Mandy and Leigh Ann left shortly after.
"Okay everyone that’s the end of rehearsal, I forgot that I have an important meeting to tend to!" Skip announced obviously missing the whole break up between Brian and Leigh Ann.
A WEEK LATER...
"Hello? May I please speak to Cindy?" I asked, Brian was getting worse so I felt I should at least let her know what was going on, she deserved that much.
"Umm... she’s not home right now, she left to go to Florida a week and a half ago." A person who I think was her brother answered.
"Okay thanks." I said before I hung up.
I looked out the hotel window off into the New York skyline with millions of unanswered questions in my mind.
~NANCY~
Cindy convinced me to do the craziest thing I ever did. I remember the exact conversation as me and her jumped up and down to the music styling of Limp Bizkit.
A WEEK AND A HALF AGO...
"Come on Nancy!! I guarantee we will have loads of fun," Cindy begged me on her knees.
"It doesn’t sound all too safe." I protested.
"Who the fuck cares?" She asked.
"I do."
"Oh come on I know you want to go."
"I do just in a safer way."
"Aww you suck, come on!! You can sit next to Justin on the ."
"No, and I told you me liking Justin was a one day thing okay?"
"If we go by plane all the way will you come?"
"Yes."
"Then you have one hour to pack, the plane leaves in two."
"I cant believe were doing this."
"Neither can I."
I left Cindy's house to pack. An hour later Justin and the rest of them came by to pick us up. We all left Cindy's house in a singing caravan. We barely caught our flight to Florida. I sat next to Cindy on the flight but she was no fun considering the fact that she was asleep the whole way, but I could understand since she did spend the whole night talking with Eric. I watched the boring in-flight movie which caused me to drift to dreamland myself. A gentle hand woke me up.
"Hey sleepy head, we're here." Justin’s soft voice said gently.
"Oh thanks." I smiled smacking the other sleepy head next to me.
"What the hell?" She asked.
"Wake up!" I said rudely.
We landed in Orlando. We left the airport and said our good byes to the guys.
"Oh and thanks again for letting us use your extra plane tickets so we could get here." I thanked.
"No problem." They all uttered.
"Well I guess we'll see you guys later then." Cindy said sitting on her suitcase.
We exchanged hugs and phone numbers then went our separate ways. Cindy called Eric to pick us up and we waited for at least an hour.
"Why didn’t you just tell him what time we were going to get here? Then maybe we wouldn’t be here waiting." I asked sitting on top of my suitcase too.
"I didn’t have time."
"But you talked to him all night, last might."
"Yeah and I didn’t know when we were going to get here so I told him I'd call before we left and I didn’t have time."
"Okay then."
BEEP BEEP!
"That’s him," Cindy said excitedly getting up.
I smiled at her enthusiasm. We put our bags in the trunk of his red J-2X Allard. My mouth literally gaped open at the beautiful sight that lay before me Cindy had to slap me out of my gaze. She hopped into the front while I squeezed into the back.
"Nice car Eric, what year?" I asked excitedly as we sped off onto the freeway.
"Thanks and its a 1936." He replied.
"How dope... I'm riding in a classic." I said sitting back and enjoying the breeze which hit my face ethereally.
It was about a thirty minute drive to his place. We exited and hit a stop light (not literally). I watched as Eric reached for Cindy's hand. ‘How sweet’ I thought as we made our way to his house. I hope Cindy doesn’t lose her sense of independence now that her and Eric are going out, hell we're in Florida and soon we'll be in New York if that’s not independence then what is? I reassured myself. We pulled into his garage, there were tons of pictures of him and what seemed to be his grandfather fixing up the Allard and others of them winning awards and stuff. It's a wonder how they kept it in such good condition.
"I grew up in this house." He said leading us in.
"Yeah, then where are your parents?" I asked.
"Oh this isn't my parent’s house its my grandma's she left it to me in her will." He explained.
He introduced most of the pictures that hung in the garage to us. Each had a little story of how him and his grandfather used to spruce up old classics when he was little then he showed us all the trophies they won as a result. He led us to our rooms and a little tour. It was a small two bed two bath place with a den that had a pool table. There was a pool and a hot tub in the back. The house lay on a cliff over looking the waters of the gulf.
"Beautiful back yard." Cindy commented staring out the window of the den.
"I know its lovely, here let me show you to your room." He offered leading us to a small bedroom with two twin beds.
We stayed with Eric for a couple of days before he had to drive the boys off for their US tour, but he gave us a key to his place and told us to feel free to use it. Before he left he showed us around town introducing us to some of his friends and we even hooked up with Justin and JC for dinner one night. He was a benevolent host. We also cruised over to the beach and caught some of the sun’s rays.
After Eric left we packed up half of our stuff and left Florida to take a boat down to the Bahamas for a few days. We spent 3 days down there on the Isle of MTV just clubbing and sun bathing and droolin over Carson Daly and Tyrese as they hosted their countdowns. I could tell that Eric sure didn’t disrupt Cindy's 'lets have fun' nature but she sure didn’t flirt as much when we encountered some hot guys, that was my job *wink wink*. We had a blast and we were sad to say that we had to end it=(.
We went back up to Florida and stopped by Eric's place to pick up the rest of our stuff so we could confirm our flight reservations and head up to New York. I was packing up the rest of our stuff when Cindy came into the room with a devilish grin on her face.
"What's up now?" I asked afraid of what her answer was going to be.
"Somebody impersonated us and took our flight reservations."
"And you’re happy about this because."
"Now we can stick to MY original plan."
"Oh no... I’m going to call the airline right now and make another reservation."
"NO! Come on it'll be fun!"
"But dangerous!"
I left the room and called the airlines after a lot of arguing on the phone I walked up to Cindy and broke the news to her in all my anger.
"Well I called the airlines and it turns out that there were no reservations under either of our names to begin with!!! And to top it off all the flights to New York are either too expensive for our budget or booked, also I asked the girl if anyone called earlier to confirm the flights you said we reserved and she said no. So I asked myself why would Cindy lie to me? Then it hit me. YOU WANT TO KILL US!!!" I said angrily.
"Don’t be mad... so what if I never made the reservations to begin with? Lets just stick to my original plan!"
"AND KILL US?!?!?!?"
"It wont kill us, we'll have fun!"
"That’s it I'm renting a car."
I left the room once again and called a service, turned out to be that we were to young to go rent a car.
I told Cindy what happened and she said, "See its a sign! No plane tickets, no car... come on!"
I finally caved in and grabbed my suitcase. "Okay come on lets go." I said heading out the door.
She laughed at me and said, "Um... Nance if were going to be hitch hiking I don’t think bringing a whole suite case would help."
We both took out our backpacks and packed the essentials, a pair of pants, shorts, a sweater, swimsuit, two shirts, extra underwear, cash, Versatel card, tooth brush, toothpaste, camera, a tent and our two tickets to Woodstock 1999. We walked to the nearest highway and stuck out our thumbs to all cars that passed by, unfortunately they all passed by us and disregarded our thumbs. It was a hot day and I was wearing shorts while Cindy wore her Capri pants, we both wore tank tops. An hour passed by and we began to lose hope so we just walked down the highway and didn’t bother to stick up our thumbs. We heard a loud honk from behind us and a huge truck pulled up to our side. Cindy ran excitedly to the front of the truck dragging me with her.
She opened the door and the driver asked, "Where you two ladies headed?"
"New York but the nearest state would be fine." Cindy answered in what I thought was too polite of a manner for a hitch hiker.
"I can drop you gals off in Georgia cause that’s where I have to deliver," he replied as some mad driver honked by.
"Great." Cindy said throwing me in first.
"So why you gals headed for New York?"
"Woodstock 99"
After that there was a dead silence the rest of the way. He dropped us off in Georgia and from there we stuck out our thumbs again. We had no luck for at least two hours until a hay truck slowed down. We walked up to the passengers side and asked where they were headed the passenger told us that they were headed to North Carolina and that there was no room in the front so we'd have to sit in the back. We hopped onto the back of the truck and laid down on the itchy hay.
Please remind me why were doing this?" I asked irritated from the hay at my back.
"For fun Nancy, for fun!" She yelled at me not having the best time of her life either.
I watched all the stars above twinkling in the sky... what a beautiful sight I thought, it was then that I began to appreciate Cindy's idea. I drifted to sleep and by morning we were in North Carolina, we thanked the driver and changed our clothes which were full of hay in a gas station rest room. Some mom in a mini van picked us up from there, that was something we didn't expect, Cindy looked at me weirdly as we climbed inside.
"So where are you girls headed?" she asked.
"New York for Woodstock." I answered politely.
"Really? Wow I went to that when I was younger, I had a great time." She replied reminiscing.
"You must be wondering why a person like me would be picking up hitch hikers? Well I just ran away from the guy I've been married to for the past oh... five years, we had two kids together and he just told me he was cheating on me." She said pausing to regain her composure.
"So I blew the coop and here I am doing something I never thought I would do, that bastard." She finished breaking into tears.
Cindy and I looked at each other.
"I'll take the wheel and you try to calm her down okay?" I asked Cindy, she nodded and I went into action.
We drove for hours following the signs that said West Virginia. Night filled the skies and we just crossed the Maryland border. We made our pit stop and the run away wife, Lydia, looked like she once again had regained her composure. I came out of the store holding a bottle of Snapple in my hand.
"Thanks so much." I heard Lydia say to Cindy as she got back into her van and drove away.
"What was that all about?" I asked Cindy, picking up my backpack from the dusty ground.
"Oh I just convinced her to confront her husband and to handle it in a legal way. So she left to drive back to her house." She answered.
"Are you forgetting one thing? We have no ride now!" I screamed to her.
"Lets go crash in a filthy hotel then." She replied calmly.
We checked into a fairly clean hotel, it wasn’t that bad. We woke up early in the morning which is very rare for Cindy to do, when she sleeps she sleeps forever, almost like she’s not alive. We walked on the side of the road waiting for somebody to pick us up, nobody did so we just kept walking until a highway patrol car pulled up to us.
The officer rolled down his widow and asked, "So what are you ladies up to?"
"Oh our car broke down on one of the small roads a long way back and we’ve been trying to find some kind of gas station or something." Cindy lied.
"Well then I suppose I can give you two a lift, its not another 20 miles until the next gas station." He answered.
We got into the back and answered a lot of personal questions on the way. We sped on the highway when we reached a sign that read 'WELCOME TO DELAWARE' I quietly cheered, we were only a few hours from NY and I was thrilled. He dropped us off at a gas station and we decided to hitch hike to Delaware Bay, it wasn’t too far.
Our ride came up and they took us to catch a ferry that would bring us to New Jersey so we could kick back on the Jersey Shore. The boat came and we hitch hiked once again to Atlantic City. We changed into our swimsuits and swam in the cool water while the afternoon sun tanned our bodies. The sun was our friend that day for we didn’t get sunburned. Our last hitch hike of our trip was another trucker guy who was headed to New York, he was very nice to us telling us stories of other hitch hikers he picked up. Before he dropped us off in front of a subway station we took a picture together so he could add it to his collection of hitch hikers in his glove compartment. For the record let me just say there are a lot of truckers out there named Bob.
We walked to the hotel that Eric said he'd have reservations waiting for us to get settled in before the big concert that awaited for us the next day. There was a message for us at the desk which read: Dear Cindy and Nancy, Welcome to New York!! Anyway I hope you two like the suite, yes suite!! I got for you=) Umm... I’m in suite 304 and the boys are in suite 311, its on the same floor as yours so hopefully we'll bump into each other. Take care as you venture off into the city and don’t forget to have fun!!! -Eric
"What a nice guy." I commented to Cindy while we boarded the elevator.
Cindy pressed the correct floor number and said, "Yeah I know."
I smiled. We opened the door to our suite and my mouth dropped to the ground. It was topped off with the works, hot tub, kitchen, entertainment center, separate bedroom with two twin beds, and a deluxe bathroom, oh yeah and last but not least a balcony overlooking the New York skyline.
We slept and woke up the next morning with Woodstock tickets in hand, and well that’s how we got there...
BACK TO PRESENT...
Cindy slammed into my body as Limp Bizkit stepped off stage possibly breaking my arm. The only way I could describe the three days we were in Woodstock was that it was one big orgy. The three days went by in a blur and I couldn’t believe we did that. Walking into our suite I reflected upon the whole month. We met the Backstreet Boys, got caught in a fire and a car accident, been to a hospital, Cindy made a boyfriend, we met N Sync, flew to Florida, rode a boat to the Bahamas, hitch hiked to New York (safely), and went to Woodstock 1999. Now how many people can say they've done that?
