I saw silverchair both times they came to houston, once on May 6th and then when they played at Buzzfest on Aug. 30th. Both times...was unbelievably cool. The other two people at the May 6th show pretty much said everything. I have a few things to add. When they came back for an encore, they played "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. Me, being a big Sabbath fan, loved it. Even my sister, who came along just cause she had nothing else to do, was saying how cool it was. The crowd at the show was very "diverse". There was a lot of older folks there who, by the time sc got on stage, were quite plastered. I had a fun time watching them attempt to walk out after the show. A reporter named Rick Mitchell from the Houston Chronicle (who's notorious for giving bad reviews--he said Billy Corgan sounded like a tomcat) said they were juvenile and needed some work. But then, who cares what he thinks, anyway? BTW, my message to the other girl that reviewed the show and got to meet everyone: I am sooo jealous!
When I heard silverchair was playing at Buzz Fest (local radio station's annual show) I immediately jumped out of my chair and asked my brother if he would go with me. All the people I knew that went to the show went for the sole reason that sc was playing. I heard on the radio that some people were coming down from New York just to see them. And it was well worth it. Daniel, who had some cute dreds in his hair, made up an interesting song about Houston, I dont remember exactly how it went. My favorite part was when they played "the Door", which they didnt play in May. During "Madman", they went kinda crazy and were running all across the stage. At the end of the set, Daniel yelled a string of profanities and then they left. My mother, who came into the show just before sc came on (we had an extra ticket), didn't really like that part. However, she did like "that song where they were all running across the stage"
