[VERSE]

       Am C
Sing a sad song in a lonely place,
    Esus4 E G
and try to put a word in for me.
          Am C
It's been so long since i found a space,
    Esus4 E G
you better put in two or three.

      Am C
We as people are just walking round,
    Esus4 E G
our heads are firmly stuck in the ground.
        Am C
What we don't see well it can't be real,
     Esus4 E G
what we don't touch we cannot feel.

[CHORUS]

G
While we're living,
C*
in this town,
    Am E
the sun is coming up and it's going down,
         C
but it's all,
         G
just the same,
                  D D* D
at the end of the day.

        G
Well we cheat,
       C*
and we lie.
  Am E
Nobody says its wrong so we don`t ask why,
           C
cause it's all,
         G
just the same,
                  D D* D
at the end of the day.

            F* C
throwing it all away,
            F* C
throwing it all away,
            F* C
throwing it all away,
                  Esus4 E
at the end of the day.

SAD SONG
=================================
Words and Music by Noel Gallagher
Chords provided by Olen Kirkland

The different interpretations of this song I've read that have been posted
here and at other sites seem to be close enough in some places and completely
off in other places (atleast to me anyway). They're good tries, but they lack
detail and accuracy. This transcription is very close if not smack on because
I've watched the video and have been able to piece together what he's actually
playing.
Basically there are two different versions of this song: The original
version (which can be found on the Definitely Maybe vynll, or the Japanese
import version of Definitely Maybe on CD), and the acoustic version which he
plays at almost every live concert. This transcription is of the acoustic
version on the "Live By The Sea" video.

That's all. Remember, since Noel plays this song differently all time, other
versions you may hear might differ in some ways. He's always adding and taking
away from the music and lyrics but this is the basic gist of the song. Please
EMail me with any corrections, comments, or questions that you may have. I'd
really like to know what you think! Thanks and enjoy ;^).

>From Fred Lidskog

Sad Song, written by Noel Gallagher, the bottomless fountain of amazing
acoustic songs.
Song can be found on the vinyl edition of "Definitely Maybe" and the
Japanese "Definitely Maybe" CD, from what I've heard.

Transcribed below is the version of "Sad Song" that Noel plays acoustic
on the Oasis concert video "Live By The Sea." I've previously done a
transcription of "Sad Song" that Noel played at some other show, but as
he often plays this song a little differently, below is the version he
plays in "Live By The Sea" at the Southside Cliffs Pavalion back in April
of 1994, I believe.

I saw that someone had tried to transcribe this version of Sad Song by
watching the video, but I'm afraid it definitely came out with a few wrong
chords, and the intro was a bit off, but otherwise is was pretty close.
(my apologies to this person, this isn't meant to sound rude!) But
below is how I believe Noel really played it that day. Listen for yourself and
decide, I'm sure you'll hear that it's just about right:

Chords used:

Musical interlude
-----------------
[play INTRO again]

Verse 2
-------
[use same chords as VERSE 1]

If you're needing something I can give
You know I'd help you if I can
If you're honest and you say that you did
You know that I would give you my hand
Or a sad song in a lonely place
I'll try to put a word in for you
Need a shoulder-well if that's the case
You know there's nothing I wouldn't do

Chorus
------
Where we're living in this town
The sun is coming up and it's going down
But it's all just the same at the end of the day
And we cheat and we lie
Nobody says it's wrong so we don't ask why
Cause it's all just the same at the end of the day
So don't throw it all away
Don't throw it all away
Don't throw it all away
Don't throw it all away
Hey hey
[play below riff for a few measure before lyrics come in]
