C'est dommage!!! I first discovered COE in what must have been 1992, not long after their 1st cd was released. I was in a used record/cd store, that no longer exists, when I happened upon this in the new arrivals. The advantage being that since it was already opened, I w s able to give it a test spin. Low and behold, I had happened upon a group that was easily to become one of my favorites. Now the years passed and I was able to turn a few friends on to this band and their incredible sounds, but it wasn't until they play d in my hometown of Reno, Nevada to a surprisingly small number of people this past year, that my previous interest has merely been a prelude to what I was to discover when they played live. And then I got to meet the band and have them sign my cd and a ecord flat. I even got the sacred set list. Could life get any better? Well, I must say that even turning my best friend Mike A. on to these guys (when I found him a copy of my favorite out of print cd-- Initiation-- along with the cd5 of "Infested") ma e me believe that this band could get big. But alas, while Mike has turned on a few friends to COE, he will never get to experience the joy of seeing them in concert. I hope that for those whom are only recently discovering Course of Empire, that oneday aybe all of our needs will be met. |

How many of US can say that, in our lives, the work we do, the effort of our souls and the final product of OUR efforts will touch NINETEEN THOUSAND people? Not many. If the b nd broke up because they hated each other or because they were out of songs or because of any of a miriad other reasons, I would simply shrug and move on. But to say that they never got their "break" is just plain wrong. Course has been a favorite of mi e since the moment I first heard them. Their music meant something to me. Evidently more than it meant to some of them. I still love the music, but I can no longer say I respect the band. Being orgied about by MTV is NOT the only measure of success i this world, and it is certainly not the best. I hope (but doubt) that Course may see what they're giving up after some time apart and that we may yet see more from them. |

Already I have been to FIVE different music stores around Melbourne, all of which have never heard of this band! Even though it wasn't one of their BEST concerts, it was still one of the best I have ever been to and plan on going to more. Oh yeah, If you go to the URL I listed, if you click on the "music" button, you can go to Jon's web page which also has some CoE stuff like Real Audio files. Jon and Erik are in a band called "My Wounded Child" and you can hear some of their stuff on there too. Supposedly Jon knows you guys too.
