Marital status: Unmarried.

Musical Influences: Not so much individual bands as the music itself, he is influenced more by the sound rather than the lyrics or the people playing; therefore his influences are wide-ranging.
Bands other than Course of Empire
Peter Schmidt (studio).
Course of Empire
Chad Lovell (aka "Mean Old Chad") was invited to join the band in March 1989, after knowing Mike Graff for a time. Already well known in the local metal scene, he once announced videos with Mike on a local cable-access music video show. After leaving the band for a short time in late 1989, Chad rejoined as one of two drummers, a setup inspired by the Kodo Drummers of Japan. In late 1991, Chad recruited Kyle Thomas as the band's second drummer for live performances, after Anthony Headley's departure. During the Initiation sessions in 1993, Chad was responsible for both drum parts, since he had not yet chosen Michael Jerome as the band's full-time second drummer. After Course of Empire set up its own studio, Chad exercised his recording and production talents on Telepathic Last Words with John Fryer, and also worked on albums for local bands including Strap and Doosu.
After Course of Empire
Since the breakup of Course of Empire, Chad has worked at more than one club in Deep Ellum and continues his production efforts for other local bands. He has also been seen in the company of video game designers. :)
