John, Paul, George and Ringo are regarded as the most influential rock musicians. Their new style of music in that time revolutionised rock music. They formed in 1957 and broke up in 1970 but the years of 1963 -1970 were when they were most famous. They all grew up in Liverpool and started their careers at a club called the Caven. Then in 1962 they signed a deal with Parlophone records and their first single was 'Love Me Do' and it made it into the top twenty. Then with 'Please Please me' they hit success with it reaching no.2 on the charts. But their first no.1 hit was 'From Me to You' in May 1963. After Beatlemania had hit the UK their manage Brian Epstein decided to try and break the Beatles into the American market. Amazingly when the Beatles touched down in New York they had to 'Rent a Crowd ' to get publicity for themselves. But this plan worked well with sold out shows greeting the Beatles everywhere. Over the next few years the Beatles wrote many many no.1 hits including Can't by Me love, A Hard Days Night and I Feel Fine. They then toured the world including Australia and they also stared in many films. Towards the end the touring was having effects on the band members with many of them not being able to keep up the pace. So they stopped live performances and concentrated on recordings and thus they released many new and different sounding albums. Their last album was Abbey Road in 1969 and in1970 they played their last performance live on the roof of Apple recording studios. This was the last we heard of the Beatles. As a tragic post script to this story John Lennon was senselessly murdered in 1980. The whole world mourned the loss of one great man.
