Elvis Presley was born on the 8th of January (My birthday aswell) 1935 in Mississippi and died controvesially in 1977. He has been attributed with the prestigous honor of being recognised as the person who brought rock and roll to the world. Elvis at a young age was considered an excellent singer and during church services at his local church he would display his natural ability to sing. During his teens Elvis taught himself to play guitar and decided to tour with the country-and-western music scene. There he gained a great following of fans even at this young age. In Elvis' later life he mixed country and western style with rhythm and blues to creat what we now know as rock. Elvis then signed a deal with a recording studio in Memphis Tennessee and he recorded many hits including; Love me Tender, All Shook Up, Don't Be Cruel and Blue Suede Shoes. Elvis also stared in many many movies some of which are still being played today. Elvis was considered quite rique because of his wild gyrations on stage, many people didn't like this and he was even censored on US televison. Towards Elvis' later life he became a quite depressed person and he turned to drugs and alcohol for the answers but as we all know this is bad and many people believe that this is what killed Elvis Presley.
