Jimi Henrix was born Johnny Allen Hendrix on November 27 1942 in Seattle, Washington. His Parents were Al and Lucille. Soon after Jimi's Birth Al changed Jimi's name to James Marshall Hendrix. Jimi's Parents divorced in 1951 when they had arguements about Al's Drinking Problem.In May 1961 Jimi Enlisted in the United States Army he served as a parachutist in the 101st Airborne Division-The Blue Angels. He was discharged from the service on July 2 after injuring his ankle. During his time in the army he met Bassist Billy Cox they started a band called King Kasuals. In 1966 Jimi formed his own band called, Jimmy James and the Blue Flames Club, During his stint in this band he was "discovered" by Chas Chandler (from the Animals) Chas and Jimi Flew to London in September to search for musicians to start a new band with. They found drummer John 'Mitch' Mitchell and Bassist Noel Redding. The trio formed The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Their Debut was on October 13 1966 their first single was Hey Joe. Which was released on December 16 and reached 6th on the UK charts. The Jimi Hendrix Experience's first album was Are You Experiencedwhich hit the charts in 1966 and remained there for 133 weeks. In total The Jimi Hendrix Experience released 3 albums they include 1.Are You Experienced 2.Axis:Bold as love 3.Electric Ladyland. Soon after there was internal problems in the band and changes had to be made.

Noel Redding left and started a solo career he was replaced by Billy Cox.

Mitch Mitchell left and was replaced by Buddy Miles.

Jimi played at the Woodstock Festival and that was where he got his big US beakthrough with Gypsy Sun and Rainbow. He was also one of the first musicians ever to use the Wah Wah pedal.

Jimi Died on September 18th 1970 in London, England. He died when he choked on his own vomit. Before he died he had been taking Alcohol and sleeping pills. Jimi is buried in Greenwood Cemetary in Washington in the USA.
