LISTEN UP!...A section about misunderstood song lyrics.
Did ya ever have trouble understanding song lyrics? I think everyone's had trouble understanding lyrics, even the simplest ones.
Here are some dumb mistakes that I've made when trying to understand oasis lyrics:
Okay, my favorite song is Live Forever...but for the longest time I didn't know what Liam was saying after "Lately did you ever feel the pain in the morning rain..."
The only thing I could imagine he was saying was "Lately did you ever feel the pain in the morning rain as your soul shoots through the bone.
Then one day I asked my mom what Liam was singing & she told me that the correct lyrics are, "Lately did you ever feel the pain in the morning rain as it soaks you to the bone." (duh! what was I thinking?)
Here's some other mistakes I've made with oasis tunes.....feel free to laugh:
Shakermaker:
My interpretation: "I'd like to be somebody else & not know where I've been, I'd like to buy myself a house out across the sea
The correct lyrics: "I'd like to be somebody else & not know where I've been, I'd like to build myself a house out of plasticine.
Don't Go Away:
My interpretation: I'm done my education
Correct lyrics: Damn my education
My interpretation: I don't wanna be there when you're coming down
Correct lyrics: And I wanna be there when you're coming down
I'm not the only one in my family who gets oasis lyrics wrong. Both my mom & my brother had a hard time with this line from Champagne Supernova:
"Wipe that tear away now from your eye"
My mom said it sounded like "Wipe that Sarah Wayne from your eye"........and my brother thought it was "Wipe that tearawini from your eye" (he just figured tearawini was a brit term for tear)
Here are some other mistakes I've made:
"You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morisette : "And I'm here to remind you of the cross eyed bear that you gave to me..."
Correct lyrics: "And I'm here to remind you of the cross I bear that you gave to me..."
"Karma Police" by Radiohead : "But we're still on a parallel."
Correct lyrics: "But we're still on the payroll..."
