a-ha

The Norwegian group a-ha was a huge hit in 1985, but they continued making music for quite some time. Although they had a good deal of initial popularity, like the contemporary New Wavers the Pet Shop Boys, a-ha's sound started off firmly New Wave as well. However, by the third album, their sound was starting to drift towards a more generic pop sound, and my interest in them started to fade away. The fourth album, which I heard portions of, didn't interest me anymore at all. However, the first two albums were absolutely brilliant synthpop albums, and the third still had quite a bit to recommend it.
