Another Mission

Another Mission is a swedish duo signed to the New York based Synthphony Records label. Both members of the band, Johan Westmar and Sebastian Haakansson are professional musicians by training and both are very young (seventeen at the time of this album's release.) This youth shows somewhat, as their (so far) only album lacks a little bit of the polish that more mature groups usually have, and there isn't really too much variety on it either, despite a conscious effort on their part to not make all the songs the same.

I think the group had a lot of promise, and with a little more experience and practice, they could have been one of the better synthpop bands around. However, due in part to disappointing sales of the debut album, the two lads decided to recruit some other band members and change their focus completely away from synthpop to a funk-rock-blues or something like that (their own description; I haven't heard any of it.) This one album is likely, therefore, to be a strange anachronism resting on the CD shelves of a few synthpop fans around the world, but without much recognition.
