Apoptygma Berzerk

Stephan Grothesk a Dane naturalized as a Norwegian citizen, is the main man behind the hard-hitting EBM group Apoptygma Berzerk. What is EBM exactly? you may ask. I certainly did the first time I heard the term. Well, this is it. APB is built so firmly on the EBM foundation of groups like Front 242 and A Split Second that at times they sound almost exactly like them. Well, that is until real recently. Like many EBM groups (Covenant, Funker Vogt, Neoractive, to name a few) the new sound of APB straddles the line of EBM and synthpop quite nicely. While earlier APB, as shown on The Apocalyptic Manifesto sounds much more like pure EBM, they now sound a little more like Depeche Mode on steroids (well, I guess not really -- Stephan's vocals aren't much like Dave Gahan's.) In either case, I quite enjoy both iterations of Apoptygma Berzerk.
