Novelty
Swedish group Novelty is signed to New York's Synthphony Records. Synthphony rarely seems to release more than one CD per artist for some reason (with the notable exceptions of Equatronic and No Decay) but they still seem to be plugging along pretty well. The label seems to mostly focus on a special type of retro synthpop that has a very 80s sound to it for the most part -- not too dark, yet usually not too chipper either. They have a stable of mostly European bands: Germans and Swedes especially.
As it turns out, the Swedish trio Novelty fits perfectly into this profile. Novelty's first and only CD, Natural sounds exactly like what you'd expect a Synthphony Records release to sound like. And, I might mention, it's pretty good stuff. I hope that Novelty doesn't go the way of Another Mission and other Synthphony acts that don't seem to ever produce a second release.
