Shades of Grey, notwithstanding their spelling of "gray," is from California. They are signed to Synthphony Records -- in fact, this CD is the first release of Synthphony Records. They don't really fit the profile for Synthphony though -- they're not really that retro, they don't have the European sound to them, and they have a kind of warm, natural sound that almost belies their use of synthesizers. Nevertheless, Shades of Grey have recieved a lot of attention in the synthpop community for this album and some of their other songs (like "Perfect Wine" on the United Synthpop of America compilation CD.) Not only that, the band members, two brothers named Tom and Tim Kramer, seem to be friendly guys who are willing to talk to their fans. |
