Formed in 1985 when vocalist Jani Lane and drummer Steven Sweet made the move from Ohio to Los Angeles where they joined forces with bassist Jerry Dixon, and guitarists Erik Turner and Joey Allen.

With the release of their debut L.P., "Dirty, Rotten, Filthy, Stinking Rich", Warrant rocketed to the apex of the Rock world.

Their second album, " Cherry Pie" -which in my humble opinion is radically better than the first one-, reinforced their stellar credentials. But after a while, Warrant ran into changes, and in 1995 with Lane, Turner and Dixon, along with newcomers Rick Steier and Bobby Borg, released "Ultraphobic", a sprightly collection of inventive, experimental rockers that proved the band wasn’t about to go down easily. Anyway, "Ultraphobic" sold barely 50,000 copies domestically, and it didn’t indeed prove that Warrant was alive and well.

Finally in 1996, the band released "Belly To Belly", which sounds more alternative than metallic.

A lot of things have been said about Warrant’s music and style, but the most remarkable is what Joe Elliot once said at an MTV interview: "Warrant is the band that killed the Rock scene of the 80’s". Anyhow, maybe Warrant is not what they used to be, but they once did something good -which not many others have done-, and that’s what it matters, for Heavy Metal’s history now acknowledges the name of Warrant, whether we like it or not.

Muchas cosas se han dicho acerca de la música y del estilo de Warrant, pero la más notable es lo que Joe Elliot dijo una vez en una entrevista para MTV: "Warrant es la banda que mató la escena del Rock de los 80’s". Como sea, quizás Warrant no es ya lo que solía ser, pero alguna vez hicieron algo bueno -lo cual muchos otros no han hecho- y eso es lo que importa, pues la historia del Heavy Metal ahora reconoce el nombre de Warrant, nos guste o no.
