Edna's Goldfish

Edna's Goldfish- before you knew better

I first heard of Edna's Goldfish through the Spawn of Skarmageddon compilation from Moon Records. My friend Cindy fell in love with their song "Gone Away" immediately. It took me awhile longer to discover the song but it left quite an impression on me. We then searched long and hard for their cd for more than a year. Little did we know that they didn't release it yet.

Anyhow, I finally got it a few days after they released it (Jan. 27, 1998) from the Moon Ska store for the affordable price of 8 buckaroos. 12 very kickin' tracks that make you wanna get up and skank along with it.   I stuck it in my cd player and I must admit. It never came out since. The album is absolutely superb! Their guitars rock. Very upbeat. Very good horn section! Brian's voice is real pleasant sounding. I say that because he actually has a good voice. Many modern ska bands have singers that are just like ok. But Brian can really sing. Edna's Goldfish is definitely on eof my most favorite bands. They're one of those bands you have to sing along with. The songs are very catchy and real fun to dance to. The lyrics are nice...very respectable. Only one bad word throughout the entire album. I only wish it were a longer one. But that 30 minutes worth of good music  just leaves you wanting more.

The Goldfish have been nominated for some Long Island music awards which is cool. They are definitely one of the top bands to watch our for. They have a great potential to get pretty far in the ska music world.

Two words. Get it!
