As I write this, my legs are weak and sore, my arms are all cramped up and my
back is dotted with purple and blue areas where I got elbowed in the back.
BUT I FEEL GREAT! Last night I went to NRK's Snowball where Bush headlined.
I have to say, they gave such a breath taking performance. It's been two and
a half years since Bush has visited Portland, and as Gavin put it, "It's
fucking great to be back." The set was incredible, with a great mix of songs
off of all 3 albums. I couldn't believe it - I was near the middle in the
front and I was so close to them I could see all the little details on their
faces. I even got a hold of Gavin's arm, when he jumped down into the
audience and started crowd surfing. The set started out with a radio DJ
introducing them, and thanking some of the sponsors, and then the lights
dimmed, the stage got kinda smokey, and then... I see a shadow of a figure
peek out and then Nigel walked out onto the stage, followed by Gavin and Dave
and Robin took a seat at his drums. I was screaming my head off until that
point... at that point that they came onstage, I started crying so hard. I
don't really know what came over me, I just saw all four of them so close I
just started bawling. Gavin must've seen me, he walked up to the microphone
and smiled at me before he said hello to the crowd. He's probably seen at
least one psycho like me at every show. So anyways, they started the show
with Machinehead, and tore the roof off the fucking place. People were
moshing so hard, but I managed to stay in my spot the whole time, where I had
the most incredible view. (this in itself is a monumental thing because I'm
short and usually it's the tall people in the front against the railing, and
then me behind them...) They played (not necessarily in this order, I kinda
forgot the order) Machinehead, Zen, Greedy Fly, Warm Machine, Comedown,
Letting the Cables Sleep, The Disease of the Dancing Cats, The Chemicals
Between Us, Glycerine, Swallowed, and Little Things. My favourite that was
played last night was Letting the Cables Sleep... it was sung so heartfelt
and beautiful it felt like the entire audience was going to break down. They
put a soft white spotlight on Gavin during that song, and he just looked like
an angel standing up there, with his guitar singing. I'll wrap this up now,
look for my formal review later on some various websites, or if you have
questions email me. Oh, and one more thing... during The Chemicals Between
Us, I looked off stage on the left and I saw Gwen Stefani standing there.
She was there with this other girl, and she was wearing all black clothes
with a black trench coat and bright pink hair. She was kinda bopping along
to the music, but she had this look on her face... like either she was really
pissed off or really bored. It made me mad, so I tried not to glance over at
her. Other bands last night: Foo Fighters, Filter and Lit
