They ROCKED! They rocked so hard I couldn't believe it, the show was
awesome! This was the first European date and Gavin reminded us of that
fact. A lot of small things went wrong, like after the first song
(Insect Kin) Gav's guitar strap snapped and he had to get another guitar
quickly. Also he didn't have enough guitar picks and the ones he did
have kept falling (probably because he was sweating so damn much). There
were some problems with the lights (Gavin kept signing to the guy behind
the lights) and some small sound problems. Also, security totally
sucked. When crowdsurfers came near the stage the security guys pushed
them back into/onto the crowd. Sometimes this meant some beefy security
guy was standing right in front of Gavin blocking him from the crowd. It
was clearly something he didn't enjoy.

Well, onto the music. The guys were totally into it, with Dave moving to
and fro like he always does, Nigel being pretty cool, Robin doing his
wild drumming (with a couple of fans that kept his hair out of his face
and looked pretty cool) and Gavin totally rocking. They played about 6
or 7 new songs which sounded awesome. Yes, there are some new
techno-like sounds, but all of you who, like me, did not enjoy
Deconstructed, don't have to worry. There's not a whole lot of it and
what there is is VERY cool. There was indeed a keyboard playing dude
present, but he wasn't introduced and though he was on stage, he sat
behind huge amplifiers, and wasn't really in view.

From the old songs Bush played: Insect Kin, Everything Zen, Little
Things, Swallowed, Greedy Fly, Machinehead and the closing song was
Comedown. So there's no more solo's like Glycerine and Bonedriven,
instead one or two of the newer songs are slow, but no solo's from
Gavin.

Gavin did some rolling around on the floor right up near the crowd (this
was a small venue, aproximately 800 people, so there was no barrier
seperating the crowd from the band) which was fun because when he got up
again his pants were nearly slipping from his bum!

Dave and Nigel looked the same as they have always looked (I got near
enough to see Dave is developing a very small bear-belly :-). Robin hair
is just a bit longer than it was the last time I saw them live and he's
just as fun looking as he was then. Gavin's curls have gone and his
hair's blond.

The crowd was wild, totally wild. The last time I saw Bush play was in
October '97 and the crowd was wild then, but not totally, I could stay
in the pit all through the show. This time was a whole different
ballgame! The moshpit was so wild I had to get out after about 3 songs.
Gavin made things worse by inviting everyone to go right up near the
stage during the second song (Zen), people went totally wild then. I
have just had a new piercing done (in my lip) and had a pretty hard
knock to it, so that hurt pretty much so I got out of the pit after 3
songs and stayed right near the edge of the pit, which was okay.

All in all it was wild, awesome and I can't wait to see them again
tonight!
