Have you ever thought of what your dream house would look like? Is it made of glass and overlooks the ocean, or does it have a winding staircase and a huge chandelier? Of maybe it's a tiny log cabin in the middle of the woods! The Backstreet Boys' A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, Nick Carter, and Howie Dorough have all dreamed of living in their ideal homes--and on their latest visit to BB's home, the singers behind such hit songs as "Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)" and "As Long As You Love Me" shared their dream-dwelling fantasies with us.
"Have you ever seen the movie HouseSitter with Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn?" asks A.J., referring to the 1992 feature film. "It's that house I want. That exact house."
So what is it about that house that makes it so special? "From the kitchen to the bedroom, there's a long hallway and it's just glass," describes A.J., who turned 20 on January 9. "The roof, the floor, the sides, it's all glass. I love glass."
However, if A.J. were to have his glass house, he may not want to live in it with his current roommate, Brian, with whom A.J. shares an apartment. That's because Brian's dream digs will most likely have hoops so he can indulge in his favorite sport: basketball. "I love basketball," Brian, who turns 23 years old on February 20, tells BB. "I've always played basketball. It's a major stress reliever to get out there and play and get your blood pumping."
Though Kevin lives on his own in Florida, his dream home is in Kentucky, on a strip of land that's now a successful horse farm. Not coincidentally, the renovated home that's standing there is the house his grandmother was born in. "I'd like to buy it, restore it, and take it back to its orignal look," Kevin explains to BB. "My grandmother has pictures of it when she was little and I've driven out there when I've been home for the holidays. I'd just drive up the driveway and look at that house."
Kevin fears the current owners won't want to give it up, but the 26-year-old has thought of a good compromise. "I'm hoping they might sell me the lot the house is on, and they can keep the rest of it," he ponders. "You know, keep the horse farm and let me buy the house."
For Nick, the only requirements he has for his dream home is that it be near trees and water. "I could live in the middle of nowhere and be happy," he confesses. "Maybe take a log cabin and build it in a place where you would have to fly in (to reach it), like on a lake or something."
However, Nick, who also celebrates a birthday this month (he turns 18 on January 28), adds that the house he recently brought recently bought for himself and his family is pretty ideal. "It's all teak wood and hardwood floors," he notes. "And we're by the water, too."
Howie wants several things in his dream home. Like Nick, he'd prefer to live by the water, but he'd also like to own his own home in Marina Hills, Florida, where he grew up and still lives with his parents. "I've always thought a house on the lake is cool," the 24-year-old tells BB. "But I think I'll probably live in Marina Hills. I've lived there my whole life and it's just a very cool place."
However, because Howie loves the entertaiment industry, he'd also like a home in Los Angeles, California, the show-biz capital of the world. "I wouldn't mind having a place in L.A. too," he muses. "You know, part-time or whatever."
So there you have it: From living in the wild to living in high style, five dreamy homes for five dreamy guys!
