BACKSTREET BOYS Classify What's Cool - BOP Sept 00
For some people, coolness revolves around what you have -- like money, clothes or super-expensive jewelry -- or even who you know. But for others, being cool is more about who you are. On their journey toward success, the "The One" - singing Backstreet Boys have learned a thing or two about what is, and what is not, totally cool. Each guy has an opinion as unique as his personality. See whose cool comments you agree with most!
Nick's Expression of Cool
Twenty-year-old Nick Carter thinks that people are cool when they're not afraid to go out on a limb to express their individuality - whether it's with an outgoing personality or a way-wacky sense of style. "Cool is just somebody that might look a certain way or someone that intrigues a lot of people," he explains.
All About Attitude for Kevin
While Nick's groupmate Kevin Richardson can't exactly put his finger on the secret ingredient that makes someone cool, he does have strong feelings about what makes them uncool -- and that's an intolerant attitude. "Racism is uncool. Prejudice is uncool," the 28-year-old exclaims. And Kevin doesn't just tag the "lame" label on people with racist thoughts -- he also thinks it's uncool to stand up for your beliefs. The dark-haired cutie explains, "I think it's up to this generation to help get rid of racism."
A.J. Keeps It Real
A.J. McLean totally shares Kevin's respect for people who have an open mind, but he votes "keeping it real" as the most important factor in getting elected to the executive board of cool-dom. "I like people who are real," the 22-year-old explains. "People who try to be something they are not -- that to me is just uncool."
No Phonies for Brian
Agreeing with groupmate A.J.'s take on coolness, 25-year-old Brian Littrell says the one thing that makes a person cool in his book is "just being yourself -- not trying to come across as someone that you're not." It sure seems that B-Rok has an awesome attitude when it comes to accepting people for who they are, but there is one easy way to get kicked off of his cool list. "I don't care for drugs or anything like that," he exclaims.
Positivity Is the Key for Howie
Howie Dorough completely agrees with his fellow entertainers, but he has one more thing to add to his groupmates' great list of cool qualities. Sweet D ultimately says the coolest personality trait in the world is positivity. "I surround myself with postiveness always," the 26-year-old smiles. That's surely a cinch with awesome buds and songmates like Nick, Howie, Kev and A.J. That's really cool!
