Uisge-Beatha (Whiskey)

Written by Allen Bell

Checkered Band

Way up in the hills of the Scottish Highlands
People mix a drink called the "water of life"
A bit further north in the Orkney Islands
They drink that whiskey 'til the darkness of night

Uisge-Beatha, Uisge-Beatha, Ceud Mile Failte
Uisge-Beatha, Uisge-Beatha, Ceud Mile Failte
Uisge-Beatha, Uisge-Beatha, Ceud Mile Failte
Bottoms up, drink it down right!

When work makes ya stress and ya need some calmin'
But ya don't have a remedy in sight
Just stroll on down the glen to the wee house brewin'
And ask for a glass of that Celtic delight

Chorus

When your're feelin' parched and your throat needs soothin'
You gotta have that stuff made of barley and wheat
Just grab on to your glass with all 5 fingers
'Cause that "water of life," my it tastes so sweet!

Chorus

People 'round the world, they love to drink it
Whiskey's got the tastle that's full of might
But only the Scots are allowed to make it
The ancient recipes are guared with life.

Chorus
