Introduction
If you have ever attempted to find a page using
a search engine, you know how frustrating and time consuming it can be. You type in
a query, and then you get a list of pages. You visit a few pages and find nothing
worthwhile. Then you try a different query, similar to the previous one, but you get
about the same pages you did before. Some of the links do not even work. There really is
no way to avoid it.
Graphics
About the test:
Matrox Millineum G200 8MB
used.
ASTVision 4I monitor used at
16-bit color and 800x600 pixels.
Browsers tested: IE Beta
5/Netscape Navigator 4.01/NeoPlanet 2.0
Help Me insists on simple graphics.
It has a frame to the left, and above that frame is a smaller pane for the logo of
the page. Clicking on it will lead you back to the main page. At the start,
you see nothing much but the frames described above and a page consisting of a little bit
of information. The images included in the frames are titles of the sections.
I recall seeing some images similar to it on a page before. Still, everything
seems to be fine.

As for the browsers, there really is not a lot
to say. NeoPlanet and Internet Explorer look suited for this page. The main
difference is that, because of the shapes and width of the window for the browser, it
looks a tad bit different. NeoPlanet tends to compress things a little bit towards
the center, but there is no major difference from it than IE. Netscape is a
reasonable choice. Again I must stress the shape, width and length of the browser
window, but the page itself looks fine here.
Recommended Settings: 800x600 monitor
resolution; 16-bit High Color
Recommended Browser(s): Internet Explorer, NeoPlanet 2.0.
Connection Test
About the test:
All browsers were closed
before the test.
Order of testing: Internet
Explorer Beta 5.0, Netscape Navigator 4.01, NeoPlanet 2.0. One browser was tested at
a time, all other browsers were closed during a browser's test.
Address for the main page, or
page that consists of contents, or the page that was viewed in the screenshot was pasted
in the testing browser.
Time was ended when the icon
in the top right hand corner stopped.
U.S.
Robotics Pratical Winmodem 56k installed
during test.
Time shown in minute/second
format.
Internet Explorer - 0:25 seconds
NeoPlanet 2.0 - 0:25 seconds
Netscape 4.01 - 0:04 seconds
What can I say? Netscape spanked
(don't laugh) NeoPlanet and Internet Explorer in this connectivity test. Surprised
about the same score for IE and NeoPlanet? Don't be. NeoPlanet copied a lot of
Internet Explorer's codes (the version on your PC), so its not surprise that they are
nearly the same in download time and interface.
The connection test
was done on a 56k Winmodem connected at 44,000 bps. Remember download times will
vary depending on your modem speed, browser, server of the page, telephone line activity,
and your internet service provide (ISP). This will not guarantee that the page will
download at the same rate on your computer as it does mine, this is just an estimate.
Information
The following sections are found in the page and that relates
to the above subject. The following list includes [if available] a description about
the section.
- Discography - Nothing new, right? Right. However I
think the overall organization and the fact that it includes covers of the albums or
whatnot are included.
- Guitar Section - "Coming soon."
- Lyrics - "Coming soon."
- Links - Includes a few links. Nothing new here. If
you do want people to request having their links on your page, just have a form for them
to fill out that will do it automatically.
Multimedia/Other
The following sections are found in the page that relates to
the above subject. The following list includes [if available] a description about
the section.
- Pictures - A total of 79 pictures. A very organized
format for the thumbnails. As for the pictures, there are some original and rare
pictures, but its nothing to die for.
- Sounds - These are clips. There are 10 Real Audio clips
and 22 MIDI clips.
- Games - "Coming Soon."
- Memorial - Two sections, and both of these are pretty
straightfoward. The first section are poems, and the second are thoughts from the
fans.
Conclusion
Again, a very simple page. Almost too simple.
There are a few good things about the page. If you have the time to scan
through this page, then you can go ahead and visit it. However if you are looking
through pages trying to find what you want, skip this one.
