WHY WE DUMPED RONAN....... .......BY DUO WHO MISSED OUT ON FAME
Pop hopefuls The Carter Twins ditched Boyzone idol Ronan Keating as their manager...because he was a part-timer who was too busy to run their carrer. Now they can only watch as his new group Westlife seem set to storm to No 1 with their first single.Hunky Irish brothers Tony and Stefhen were the first outfit to be signed by Ronan.Along with own manager Loius Walsh, ambitious Ronan hooked up with the lads-who had just changed their name from Brother 2 Brother- and moulded them into a stylish pop combo. They went on to win a Best Newcomer at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party, and even co-wrote a song with their new boss. But leader singer Tony, 24, claimed Ronan was to busy working with his own band to look after their day-to-day diary properply.Unlike proteges Westlife who have supported Boyzone on tour and appeared with Ronan in countless interviews, the brothers say all the work was left to Louis.Speaking exclusively to Access All Areas Tony said: "Ronan was to busy working on his own stuff and we never really got to work with him.""We didn't fell the band was being promoted enough so we decided to slipt.""We wanted to do more soul music in the begining but it didn't go to that way. A lot of the songs we did I wasn't happy with".But shortly after opting to go it alone they were dumped by their record label.A spokesperson for BMG Ireland said: "They were dropped by the label in September because they weren't a success.""The highest they got in the UK was the 50s."Meanwhile, Westlife look certain to knoch former EastEnder Martine McCutcheon off the top of the charts.

NEW DAD RONAN IS RATTLED
Boyzone star Ronan Keating lost his cool yesterday when snappers tried to get a picture of his baby son.Ronan, 22, and wife Yvonne had arrived with the baby Jack at Chris Evans TFI Friday studios in West London. But the normally mild-mannered singer flew into an almighty rage when photografhers asked him to pose for pictures with his famaly.Instead of playing the proud father, Ro covered his month-old son, who was sitting in a carry cot, with a blanket.Even Boyzone band member Steven Gately dicided to rush to Ronan's aid. The singer blocked cameramen so that they couldn't get a picture of the tot.Of course, not for one minute do I supose that Ronan's reaction had anything to do with a rumoured big-cash deal with a certain celebrety magazine.

I found this on www.qonline.co.uk...
Louis Walsh, the manager behind pop sensation Boyzone, has confirmed that the group are likely to split before the Millennium. It appears that the summer  tour and May release of a greatest hits  collection will be the last we hear from the group. Speaking of the split, Walsh said,  "They've all made money and they know  that if you're getting on and have kids, or are married, that you can't stay forever in  a band called Boyzone." However, Walsh will not end his interest in  the Irishmen, as he intends to manage  lead singer Ronan Keating's solo career,  which the music mogul says the young  singer now wants sooner rather than later.  "Ronan needs to be directed and produced, he has only worked with second division pop producers. He has  never had voice coaching, he needs that  from here on in."

(thanx a lot to vicky De Marteau  vickydemarteau@hotmail.com  for the information)
RC: Where did you get the idea for doing a "best-of" CD from?
Shane: Well, basically, the greatest hits is coming out in around May. We've had 3 albums, we've had a lot of save top 10 hits in and around Europe, UK, ... really. And it's just a kind of to move on from life really. Pass off the last 3 albums and just continue.

RC: Is this album a change between 'old vs. young' Boyzone?
Steve: No, I just think it is, ... . You know, we've had 3 albums now. It's more well due for a greatest hits, and you know, we're gonna CONTINUE after the greatest hits with a fourth album, so we're in the studio working on that. But I think you gradually grow older, I think you gradually ... I mean I am 23. So you know it is a kind of getting there, you know.

RC: Do you hear a difference between Boyzone now (1999) and Boyzone 5 years ago?
Shane:Well, as was the offias thing that, you know, we've all been in the business for 6 years and it's a big change in our lifes really. We've all had to addapt to our surroundings, etc. ...  So you know, we're definitely not the same people we were in 1993.

RC: Are you an 'adult' Boyzone now?
Steve: adult, ...? Yeah, we're getting there, you know old, there is no need, we're not old, but we're not majorly young, we're not teenagers anymore, but uhm, and uhm, our music is getting more matured, you know, the sound, the productions, it's appealling to a much weider audience, male/female, young and old, wich is we always wanted.

RC: Does it still give a kick to you, when you're at n01 in the English charts?
Stephen: Yeah, ..., I am just really pleased when we get n01 in TOTP, it is just really nice, it gives you a nice feeling when people say "hello" and "your single in at n01 and it has done very well!!"

RC: What about the movie?
Shanno: There was a movie, we started out talking about it 6 months ago, it was ment to be released in March. It is definitely not going to happen now in March. Because, as we kept the script it wasn't as how we would liked it up to be. So now, we're  waiting on a new script, so we can see how things go after that.

RC: What was the story after ILTWYLM ?
Steve: It is just a big ballade, beautifull lyrics, beautifull production, I think. And, you know, it is just a really nice song, it is just a very meanfull song. And I am very pleased that a new single

RC: Do some fans think it is for them personally?
Shane: I am sure they do, I am sure they like to believe that we're singing it to them, but that is just why the whole spark is, isn't it? So they love to think, and that is just why they love the music.

CHER SHE IS AGAIN!
BZ have been bumping into songstress Cher all over the place lately. After Ro ran into her at the Harrods sale, the rest of the boys met up with her again in France last month! The band were attending the MIDEM music festival in Cannes, and very kindly presented her with yet another top musical award…

GOOD WORK FELLAS!
The wrapping of the Comic Relief video shoot provided an extra special moment for BZ, when the boys were presented with giant sized discs celebrating phenomenal sales of their Where We Belong album. The album has now sold over 1,500,000 copies - and not surprisingly, the boys and the video crew who had gathered to watch the presentation were more than impressed!

DUSTER DRESSES UP!
According to glossy weekly showbiz mag OK!, "Some of Britain's best dressed male celebrities joined the international fashion press for the autumn/winter menswear collections." And who was one of those "best dressed male celebrities" in the front row at John Rocha's show? Keith, that's who! Duster and BZ super stylist Alex were invited along to the catwalk do by Mr Rocha himself, and the pair spent a very swanky afternoon checking out his styles for the new season!

SHANE REACTION!
R 'n' B soul diva Beverley Knight ended up with an unexpected guest at
her recent video shoot for new single Made it Back last month. None other than Shane Lynch dropped by to meet up with his mate who was dancing in the video - and while grooving about in the background, unaware that the film was rolling, he ended up being caught on camera! If you fancy checking out whether he made the final edit, keep your eyes peeled for Beverley's video, when Made it Back is released on March 29th!

STEPHEN'S A STARSPOTTER!
In his New Year BZ interview last issue, Stephen was busy singing the praises of pop's new bright young thing Britney Spears… "I love that track by Britney Spears," said Steo, "I think it will do really well, it's a really good song". And whaddya know, Britney's debut UK single…Baby One More Time only crashed in at No1 the following week! Stephen Gately - he knows his stuff!

SQUEAKY CLEAN!
Stephen and Keith were amongst a whole heap of top stars - including Chris Evans, Griff Rhys-Jones, Victoria Wood and Geri Halliwell, when they joined in the grand launch of this year's Comic Relief campaign in London's Leicester Square. The special press launch was set up to unveil the brand new Comic Relief red noses for '99 - which squeak when squeezed to provide hours of entertainment - and the BZ pair did a fine job of modelling them alongside the almost as gorgeous Jamie Theakston!

ALL CHANGE!
Ronan played host at a very showbiz showcase to officially launch his band WestLife - the boys formerly known as WestSide - at a top London venue in February. Kian, Shane, Bryan, Mark and Nicky have changed their name, since investigations revealed that there is at least one other band registered in the USA with the name WestSide - so they've swapped for the equally lovely WestLife to avoid confusion! The showcase audience - made up of music biz types and a huge bunch of WestLife fans (along with Keith Duffy, who popped in after the John Rocha show), had a great night out at London's swanky Café de Paris - and co-manager Ro was particularly proud… "The boys have what Boyzone had four years ago -the want and the hunger to get there", he beamed. "There's no reason whythey can't be the biggest boy band in the world!" Keep  your eyes peeled for WestLife's debut single Swear It Again, released in the UK in April

TIME OUT FOR PADDY'S DAY
Never let it be said that BZ don't work hard for the sake of their art. When top London living guide Time Out picked the boys to be their cover stars in time for St Patrick's Day, they had an interesting theme in mind… They only decided to force those poor boys into a London pub for the afternoon, make them reel off tales about their best nights out, and pose for pictures with pints of Guinness! It was a big struggle, as you can imagine, but the boys managed to soldier on through… Those poor lambs - the things you have to do in aid of a spot of pop publicity!

CORR BLIMEY!
Ronan and Keith caused comic chaos during rehearsals for their recent appearance on the National Lottery show. Performing on the programme alongside gorgeous Irish quartet The Corrs, the cheeky pair decided to volunteer as stand ins when the Corrs girls, tied up with a soundcheck for their Wembley gig, were unable to make the practice run. Ro launched into a scarily convincing girly impression of lead vocalist Andrea, whilst Duster leapt into some serious rocking action with the aid of Jim Corr's guitar… The boys had all witnesses to this particularly antastic musical event in stitches - Lottery host Dale Winton was especially impressed!

EVANS ABOVE!
Despite the recent rumours that his radio station Virgin has banned BZ records, Chris Evans made a touching gesture after Ro appeared on TFI in February. With the new Keating baby being due at any moment, Chris presented Ronan with a special TFI babygrow suit by way of a thank you. What a love…

WHERE'S SAID AND DONE?
In response to the large number of you who have phoned us recently, regarding problems in tracking down BZ's first video Said and Done, don't fret cos we've checked with BZ video HQ to find out what the story is… The video is still available, but if you do have any problems in getting hold of a copy, your record store should be able to order one for you. Just quote it's catalogue number - which is 6360003, and Bob's your uncle!

OOPS!
Poor old Miss World. The lovely lady from Israel was kind enough to give BZ a great plug when she arrived on stage at the Brit awards to make a presentation - informing the show's host Johnny Vaughan how popular BZ were back home. However, when she popped over to say hello to Keith and Ronan while the boys were hanging out backstage at the show, the cheeky pair - despite having spent a whole week at the Miss World contest in the Seychelles - were at a complete loss as to who she was, only realising later on when somebody very helpful reminded them. So Miss World, if you're reading Ro and Duster say sorry!

HANDS OFF!
While waiting to be interviewed for a recent edition of the Pepsi Chart Show, BZ were up to their usual backstage cheekiness. After stealing All Saints' VIP table the last time they were there, this time around they set about nicking Steps' table, instead of using their own perfectly suitable one. Then once they'd finally made themselves comfy, Stephen and Keith managed to break a record for emptying the biggest bowl of Skips in the world in the shortest time ever!

Stephen answers your questions... BOYZONE MAGAZINE ISSUE 36
(thanx a lot to Natasha  <celdron@glink.net.hk>  for the information)
If you could be a woman, what would you miss most about being a man? From Helen Knights, Grimsby
I'd miss everything because I don't want to be a woman. I'm fine as I am - and women are fine as they are without me being one of them!

Is the stone that you wear on your left hand a moodstone? From Allison Beckwith, London
No it's not a moodstone. It's aquamarine the birth stone for Pisces - so if anyone wants to send me any big chunks of it, they'd be very welcome! Only joking!

Who decides where your videos are shot and who appears in them? (I'm sure you could twist my arm to be in one!) From Stephanie Croker, Bristol
Normally our record company decides where we shoot our videos - otherwise they'd all be in sunny and exotic locations. We never used to have any extras in them, but we have been doing lately. And if ever we need fans to be in one of our videos, we'll let you know!

In the Key To My Life video Ronan hands Stephen a piece of paper which Stephen throws away - what did it say on it? From Emma Curry, Newcastle Upon Tyne
It says "what's wrong with you?", "why are you sad?" - something like that. It was just a part of the video's storyline.

I am currently learning how to drive and can only turn left! How long did it take you before you could turn right? From Lana Cole, Kent
I'm still learning Lana! I can't do left or right yet, I can only drive up and down in straight lines! But my new Peugeot 306 Cabriolet is absolutely fabulous - it's an automatic. I don't even have to drive it - I just sit in the back and it drives itself, like Knight Rider!

Which part of the Disney film Hercules do you like the most? From Marlies Wassenaar, Holland
I like the bit when Hercules meets his father Zeus for the first time - and when he gets his horse Pegaus. I think that bit's quite funny...

What time did you get up this morning? From Helena Cohen, Middlesex
I got up at 10 o'clock this morning, which wasn't too bad. But the later the better. If I over sleep or have too much sleep I get more tired, and cranky. If I sleep 7 or 8 hours I'm fine, I'm in good form. I went to bed at 11 o'clock last night so I'm not too bad today!

Does your family buy your CDs and books? From Laura Barcham
No I give them to them for free! I always give them copies of everything we do - and when I have demos of new songs we've recorded I always play them to them first...

My idea of a Good Conversation would be to have a One on One with Stephen. Who would Stephen like to have a Good Concersation with? From Katie Ford, Staffs
Well Cilla - I mean Katie - I think I'd like to have a good chat with Whitney Houston, and tell her how good I think her new album is. And how I wanted her to sign it at the Brits but I couldn't get past her bouncers!

What is your ideal night out when you are at home in Ireland? From Morag Cameron, Glasgow
Staying at home in my house with a bottle of champagne and a huge pile of videos!

Would you like to go back to school? From Chloe, Hong Kong
If I went back to school now, there might be things I'd do differently, things I'd change about myself maybe. But I think I was probably meant to leave when I did... I don't regret leaving when I did, I stayed in school a long time. Long enough, I think!

What was the last CD you bought? From Nicola McManus, Dublin
The Blondie album, I think. I want to get the Britney Spears album when it's out. And the new Roxette album too. That's not out either - but I've heard it's very good!
