BOYZONE IN
MALAYSIA By Donna Uning
Kuala Lumpur-
It all started earlier as expected as I sat waiting in Gate E3, Changi
airport(*S'pore's airport*), when I saw a Mikey-Boyzone look-a-like enter
the room. I did not take notice until it crossed my mind that Boyzone should
be off to Kuala Lumpur after that rocking concert in Singapore recently.Things
got too close for comfort when the rest of Boyzone came in and slumped
themselves by the wall in front of me. It was on that flight SQ106, at
9:35 a.m. that I finally got the attention of Boyzone, although I wish
I was younger and with another band(*?*), but hey, it was another flight
history for me(I was on the same flight with Kiss a year ago from Perth
to Adelaide on my way to Bryan Adam's concert).Pushing all those hyperventilating
aside, I talked to the guys on their promotion of their new album, "Where
We Belong."THEIR NEW, MATURE AND STILL POPPY SOUNDING 15-TRACK ALBUM IS
THUS FAR THEIR GREATEST ALBUM EVER. THEY WORKED WITH STIRKIN AND ROGERS,
AND RAY HEDGES FOR THIS PROJECT AND WE CAN APPRECIATE THE WRITING SKILLS
OF RONAN KEAATING AND STEPHEN GATELY AT THEIR BEST.On the album, Ronan
remarked that, "WE HAVE MOVED ON AND OPENED INTO A LARGER AUDIENCE. WE'VE
ALSO USED A LIVE BAND." According
to him, Boyzone will not be doing many showcases because they
"want to be taken
seriously." SO,
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO HAVE THE LOUDEST SCREAM ON SCREEN AT THE HELLO CONCERT
IN SINGAPORE, I ASKED STEVE."DID I?" Steve asked back, SURPRISED. (*YEAH,
RIGHT!:)) "IT'S NICE. IT'S NICE WHEN YOU GET A REACTION FROM THE AUDIENCE...
I LOVE PLAYING WITH THE
CAMERAS," he said. "Because
he's the only one not taken by a girl," laughed the newly-wed
Ronan. (*I don't
think that is true, coz even in ALL the old programs, Steve always seemed
to get the loudest screams. Guess that reduces my chances,
doesn't it...*) It
seemed that RONAN HAD TAKEN UP GOLF. "I play a little bit of golf. They're
organising a game tomorrow at one of the courses," he said."You were on
the plane," said Steve. "She's on the same plane," announced Ronan, er,
thanks. (*I didn't get that part at all, I think someone messed up*)Boyzoone
also appeared on the Twilight Charity Nite, a charity event in aid of Rumah
Juara, National Kidney Foundation and the Seremban Hospital Paediatrics
Unit.
It's not that
great an article, is it?
