Click on the picture below to download Netmeeting Version 2.1

How to use Netmeeting:

1. Download the file nm21.exe and run it from the folder you chose to download it to.

2. Follow the instructions for setting up your sound and (if applicable) video settings.

3. If you want to be able to talk to people over the Net with your voice (speaking!) then you'll need tp plug either a microphone or pair of headphones into the mic socket at the back of your PC.

4. Once your settings are configured, you'll need to add in some personal details so you can be recognised on the 'Directory'. Click on 'Tools', 'Options' and finally 'My Information' (as shown in the pic below).

Next....

5. Now you will need to connect to the 'Directory' of the sever specified in the 'Server' box (see picture). If the directory hasn't already automatically updated, highlight the text in the 'Server' box and press the enter key. Netmeeting will then begin to retrieve the details of all the people connected to the server.

6. If you would like your prescence on Netmeeting to be known by other users looking through the 'Directory', you will have to log on to the server. By default Netmeeting does this for you on starting up the program, however if your first attempt fails as the server is too busy, you will need to know how to manually connect. Click the text at the VERY TOP LEFT (not the icon of a phone below) and click 'Log on to ' as shown in the picture below.

Clicking on this icon at the side of the Netmeeting interface will (if you're not already looking at it) show you the server 'Directory' listing all the logged on people available for chatting.

Clicking on this will show your current 'Speed Dial' list. Users are added automatically to your Speed Dial list after a chat request sent either by you or the other user is accepted. This is very useful in keeping in touch with users who change servers reguarly. You can re-dial users when viewing your list by double-clicking on the their name with your mouse.

By clicking on this you will be shown the 'Current Call' screen. This shows the status of the call you are currently in (unless you aren't in a call at all). The 'Current Call' screen offers some more user options at the top. Click here to go to the 'Current Call' Option page.

This takes you to a 'History' window, showing all the call requests you have either accepted or ignored from other users. To delete an entry highlight it and right-click your mouse, then click 'Delete Entry'. To delete all entries, right click anywhere in the name window and click 'Delete All'.

That's about all you need to know for now. It's best to fiddle around with the features of Netmeeting and try to work out a general understanding of the program before you try making contact with anyone else - so as to avoid too much p'ed off-ness.
