SMELLS LIKE RECORDS
SMELLS LIKE RECORDS, the label run by Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth, has announced details of exciting plans for 1999.
The label, which put out early releases by Catpower and Blonde Redhead, as well as the first reunion single by The Raincoats, has finalised UK wide distribution with Cargo UK, making its catalogue easily available in Britain for the first time.
New albums will be released at the start of the New Year by:
Bluetile Lounge: Half Cut Glacial psycho-acoustics a la Low, Codeine etc straight outta Perth, Australia
Scarnella: Scarnella. Geraldine Fibbers’ Carla Bozulich and Nels Cline’s intense and beautiful improv cabaret
Two Dollar Guitar: Train Songs. Monumental instrumentals and moody etudes from our flagship vessel.
The Rondelles: Fiction Romance Fast Machines. Late-teen sensations from Washington DC, Shangri-Las meet Sleater-Kinney.
SMELLS LIKE RECORDS is also proud to announce that it will be reissuing a number of Lee Hazlewood albums in the spring. Full details will be announced soon, but expect some fairly startling news.
The full SMELLS LIKE RECORDS back catalogue will also be made available, as well as more experimental recordings by Sonic Youth (on the subsidiary SYR label).

Compilation project
Nick Kuepfer is trying to organize a cd compilation featuring bands and writings from active members in animal
rights as a benefit for the farm sanctuary in California. I was wondering if anyone knew anyone interested in
submitting tracks or if anyone knows any means of funding for a project like this. This is a completly non-profit
benefit for the farm sanctuary and all proceeds will go directly to the sanctuary.
