Alright, well, it was
11/29/99 @ the 9:30 Club in DC (exactly one
year from their last show there...coincidence? I think not!) Anyhow, it
was probably one of their best shows yet!
I was so stoked to see them since the last time I saw them was on 9/11/98
up at Loyola College in Baltimore, MD.
The crowd was great,
the whole scene was jumpin'. First, they kicked
off the show with "Big and Bad" which in my
opinion, totally rocked the house and got everyone in the mood. Then they
continued with "Pinstripe," "B.T.O,"
and
"King
-O- Swing." (I swear, this is hoow it is written on the set list
that the man himself, Dirk, *smiles uncontrollably*
gave me!!
Ok, anyhow, as any
typical BBVD show, it was great to see everyone run around the stage and
do their thing, although, i was kinda upset that Karl
didn't
get on top of the speaker and just play his lil heart
out.
(I did mention to him that he should do it next time...) It was great to
see Scotty give it his all (like he always
does) and seeing Dirk smile, and watching
Kid, Karl,
and Josh totally blow the crowd away with
their solos. Then, they continued with "You &
Me," and "Mambo." Which I might add
that Kurt did a great solo...(Correct me if
I'm wrong if it was this song he did the solo or not....I didn't take notes...)
Then, "Some Things," "Jumpin
Jack," "Jungle Book," and "Jump
w/ Baby" which everyone had their own lil solo which was great.
It was also great hearing Kid and the new
trumpeter, (sorry, can't remember his name nor the new trombonists' name,
either) playing great solos and having their own lil competitions between
Kid
and
Ron, i think his name is.
Next, they went on
with
"Not Sleepin," and "Go
Daddy O" which was still full of energy just like how they played
"Big
& Bad" at the beginning of the show. Then, of course, they took
a quick break, came back for a great encore of "Minnie,"
"What's
Next," and then of course, the ever so sad, "Goodbye."
All in all, it was
a wonderful BBVD show (like always.) So full
of energy and so much fun, I was sad to see
'em go....But the meet and greet was fun, too, since it's cool to hear
Dirk
and
Kurt say how cool it is to know all the words
and i quote from Dirk, "We all know the words, too."
*then he gives me that wonderful
smile o'
his* Well, that's pretty much all of what happened at the Washington D.C.
show, all fun, and as usual, it was kickin', Voodoo
style!
