» CHAPTER FOURTEEN: THE FIRM «

Allie and Valerie each took a shower; did their hair and makeup; and stood in front of the mirror, doing last minute adjustments. Allison was wearing a cute, green, baby tank with a pair of board shorts. Valerie had on pair of jeans and a dark purple tank top. “Do I look ok?” Allie asked Valerie.

“Yeah, you look great!” Valerie said reassuringly.

“I’m just so nervous!” Allie exclaimed, jumping up and down.

“Calm down! I’m nervous too you know!” Valerie said.

“I just wish that Jana could’ve made it down here with us” Allie said sadly (Author's Note: Jana is the other member of their group).

“I wish that she was here too, but we only had one extra ticket, not two” Valerie said.

“Yeah… ahhh, I’m so excited!!!” Allie let out.

“We’ll be just fine, I know it. Let’s do this for the guys and for Jana” Valerie said as they grabbed their purses.

“OK” Allie said, smiling.

“WE’RE BUFF GIRLS! STOP! UH HUH!” The girls screamed outloud (Author's Note: This is a personal joke… hehe! ;0)

Valerie grabbed the spare key to the condo and then the girls left to go to the main lobby.

“What time did you say that they were coming?” Allie asked.

“2:00, they’ll be here any minute” Valerie said reassuringly.

“Ok” Allie said, looking around.

A very good-looking man walked up to Valerie and Allie. “Excuse me, are you Valerie and Allison?”

“Yes we are” Allie and Valerie said at once.

“Well, I’m Ryan. I’m one of the managers sons; there’s a limo outside waiting to take us to the studio” he said extending his hand out to Valerie.

“Ok thanks. I’m Valerie” Valerie said, with a big smile while shaking his hand. Wow, he has such pretty eyes and a very nice body. Valerie thought to herself.

“And I’m Allison, but you can call me Allie” Allie said, shaking Ryan’s hand. Allie noticed Valerie looking Ryan up and down. I guess that he’s not that bad looking…. he reminds me of AJ, but not as bad-boyish, Allie thought.

“Well, are you lovely young ladies ready?” Ryan asked with a to-die-for smile.

“More ready than we’ll ever be” Allie said as Ryan lead them out the door and into a stretch limo.

About twenty minutes later they arrived at a large building with a sign on the front reading, The Firm. Ryan led them through a maze of hallways till they reached a door, a door marked, MANAGEMENT. They walked inside and saw a man sitting at a desk, talking on the phone. “Here, have a seat” Ryan said pointing to the chairs in front of the large oak desk. "That’s my dad, Steve.”

“Really, they are at number one again!? I’m so glad that we signed the Backstreet Boys with us.” Steve looked up to see Ryan and the girls. He smiled. "Yeah… well, I have to go. Yep, new singers here.  I’ll tell you how it goes. Bye!” He hung up the phone and smiled.

“Dad, this is Valerie and Allie” Ryan said as the girls got up and shook Steve’s hand.

“Well, I’m so glad that I finally got to meet you!” Steve said excitedly, he looked at Valerie. "So, you told me that Jana is in Washington, right?”

“Yep, we didn’t have enough money to send her down here with us” Valerie replied. She looked down and realized that her hands were shaking; she took in a deep breath.

“I know that you two must be really nervous, so I’m going to tell you the truth right now. I like your style, I watched the video that you sent me and I loved it. You have the moves, the voices and everything else that we look for here. I’m going to have Jana fly down here by tomorrow. We have a song and a dance for you guys to work on; we’re going to take everything step-by-step. Do your parents know about this?” Steve said, with a warm smile.

“Well, first we both would like to thank you for everything that you’ve done for us, and no, we haven’t told our parents yet. I guess that now we’ll have to” Allie said.

“Yes, we need them to sign some papers, but for now I’ll have Ryan take you to the recording room and we’ll work on the song that we have for you, ok?” Steve said.

“That will be great!” Valerie said excitedly, as she got up and shook Steve’s hand. "Thank you so much!”

“No, thank-you! I see big potential for you guys” Steve said, obviously trying to hold back his excitement.

Allie got up and shook Steve’s hand. "Thank you, you are making our dreams come true.”

“I know, I know. Now go, you have work to do!” said Steve, with a smile. Ryan led them out of the room. "We have to get you signed in downstairs so that security knows who you are.”

“OK” said Valerie, as she and Allie followed Ryan back downstairs.

“I can’t believe we did it!” Allie whispered into Valerie’s ear.

“I know, I’ve never been so happy in my life!” Valerie whispered back.

They rounded a corner and bumped into someone. “Valerie, Allie, what are you guys doing here?!”
